  1. Seeing the test pulls in petg has me pretty amped to get this kit finally however the prototype from Backstage Props posted over the weekend has me second guessing again. If they've really locked down a 1 piece yoke (more or less) and a 1 piece TD I might have to buy a second kit much sooner than I intended to.
  2. thanks. The polystyrene being offered by KB Props now is way too thin for my taste. The pulls look sharp, great detail, but it bends and curls like construction paper. In my opinion, that's not armor. I've decided to go with their 0.118" clear pet-g. Kevin's new parter Hal posted a video of a FOTK thigh piece pulled with this plastic being painted. It looks amazing AND switching from ABS will get this kit to me much sooner.
  3. I'm sure many of you have heard about the update from KB Props and his merger with another builder. I'm on the fence about switching to pet-g and not waiting for his abs to arrive. Kevin's new parter Hal told me all the positive characteristics about this new plastic, but I'm a creature of habit and I know how to work with ABS. Does anyone have any experience with armor pulled in pet-g? or in polystyrene, his 3rd option?
  4. I'm also waiting on a FOTK kit from KB but I'm hesitant to switch to the pet-g as I've always dealth with ABS. Does anyone know anything about this material that I don't?
  5. very nice to hear that Mimic is communicating regularly now. I'll continue to look forward to your images.
  6. I'm sorry to see that you're still getting a bit of the run around on this. I look forward to seeing your photos once it arrives.
  7. would you mind posting a link to that? I can't seem to locate any under $20.
  8. back on track, somewhat. I placed the order for a TFA kit from KB props today. In 4-5 weeks, it'll be time to get busy.
  9. If it was just a few dollars I wouldn't worry about it, but with it being a combined refund of all 5 of our kits, the difference is over $200 US. I messaged Mimic asking what they know about the exchange process with paypal however I doubt I'll get a response. Mimic most likely has be blocked at this point, and i'd have done the same if I were them. In hindsite, I was a dick. However, I don't think the truth of the run would be known had I not been a dick. I salute you and the others that opted to remain with him after the storm settled.
  10. Our Vermont buid group received our refunds from Mimic last night ending that part of this never ending FOTK timeline. Paypal requires up to 7 days to actually move the money to our accounts. At that point we'll be putting in an order for new kits. I think our plan is to go with KB kits, but we are still discussing it. Is anyone familiar with how PayPal handles the difference in exchange rates when issueing refunds? Judging by the exchange rate when we paid, compared to the exchange rate when we were refunded, we could have actually profitted off of Mimic holding our funds for months. If that is the case, we may need to communicate with him and rectify that.
  11. I talked to KB a little bit yesterday. He seems like a upstanding citizen and I've already advocated to our local build group for his kit over the fiberglass one from Jim.
  12. KB messaged Mimic? I guess I should mention to them that my group from VT is switching to him from Mimic, tug on those heartstrings a little bit.
  13. I agree. I'm partially kicking myself for pulling out of the Anovos order. I absolutely love my anovos ANH TK. I got on their very fist offering back in 2015 and when they actually ship their products, I find them to the best available. Mimic is probaby the same - if and when he completes this it will be beyond compare. I feel a little bad about how Mimic's run derailed over the last few weeks. With you included, there are 7 known members of the run requesting refunds with another 2 on the fence. That is just about half of his project. On the plus side, the other half might get their gear faster. On another plus side, KB Props says he has a 4-5 week wait for kits and has a proven track record to back that up. I just need my paypal claim to finalize to I can send it off to someone else.
  14. Ha, I cancelled my Anovos preorder and switched to Mimic. I may be doomed and the universe may not want me to be a FOTK. We’ll see. I may sell off all these soft parts and just start on Chewbacca. Decisions are hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Ok, so Mimic was too good to be true at this point. The group of us in Vermont have started the PayPal process for a refund. It’s a bummer. We got led on about how work was progressing on the armor. Turns out there hasn’t been much progress over the last few months and there is no timeline for completion. The run will probably produce marvelous armor in the long run, but “maybe in the future” isn’t a timeline I can follow. I’m open to suggestions of armor kits. I’ll be shopping around while we wait on PayPal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Indeed they are. Are you the Andrew I've seen in photo's with him @ ESPN? I finally got my belt kit and harnesses last night. They've been over at another squad members house for weeks but now they are in my stack of soft parts as we wait for MIMIC to get us some armor. The wait is starting to get to me. I recently had a nightmare that Anovos got their kits out before Mimic did.
  17. My quest for a harness solution ended. I ogled another New England Garrison members FOTK rig and am happily stealing his designs for strapping. He uses a Condor MCR1 tactical vest. Mine arrived yesterday and I'll be starting to make straps and snaps at some point next week. Ideally, all I will need to do when the armor arrives is glue in snap plates and figure out how to attach it to the gaskets (which I'm told are shipping today or tomorrow).
  18. They are closer to my actual shoe size than TKBoots are. My size 12 TKboots fit like an 11 but my size 12 Imperial have a little extra space around the ankle. I've been tempted to wear these with my ANH TK just for the comfort.
  19. yeah, my head's too fat for there to be much extra space to see into from below.
  20. I wasn’t planning to wear one, though it could be nice in the winter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. These FOTK boots are much more comfortable than my TKBoots. I’m not sure if it’s just a sizing issue or the overall shape but I could live in these. After a couple hours in my OT TK, my feet are killing me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Now that Mimic is planning to ship out our armor in two batches, I thought its time for me to post up my build thread. Mimic states that he's going to ship the kits in 2 batches, the first to dispatch is the back, butt, abs, chest, yoke and cod. The limbs and helmet will come later on. So far, this is where I am with my needed gear: Gaskets - Geeky Pink Gaskets -got them Gloves - Imperial Boots -got them Boots - Imperial Boots -got them Neck Seal - using my current ANH TK neck seal Belt - Jafo - got it Cloth Pouches - trooperbay - got them Undersuit - StormtrooperUndersuit.com -got it Blaster Rifle 3D printed kit of the F11D about 75% sanded Pistol3D printed SE44c hasn't been started aside from printing it - waiting in a box for me to sand it Helmet - Anovos TLJ Helmet Electronics - Ukswrath's amp/speakers, home made USB fan rig -I've got them, but haven't installed them yet Armor - Backstate Props (FOTK preorder) Harness - condor tactical vest Am I missing anything? After getting the undersuit and trying it on, I'm pumped to get this armor completed. The undersuit is already more comfortable than what I wear with my current TK. With 4 other people here in Vermont on this Mimic order, we're going to look amazing. **EDIT** after pulling the plug on Mimic's run, I've now ordered a TFA kit from KB Props. I opted for TFA vs TLJ primarily because I already have the helmet. There are now 3 of us in VT instead of 5 building together. KB told us 4-5 weeks. The hype has returned. **EDIT (again)** KB Props has declared that he's closing and has advised all unfullfilled orders to seek refunds from Paypal. **EDIT (good things come in threes)** My Vermont group is now on the BSP FOTK preorder. They claim to be pulling all the preorders in June but only time will tell. If this vendor doesn't come through, I'm switching my project time/energy to a wookie. **EDIT (last one for I hope)** I sold my Anovos TFA helmet and have switched my plan to TLJ after acquiring the Anovos TLJ
  23. Are you still waiting for your money back? I successfully got in touch with the Customer Service manager, Charlie, via the webchat and he expedited my refund that same day. It took partial.ly another couple of days to actually put the money back in my account but it happened. I'm confident that had I not escalated to the CS manager, I'd still be waiting. Ask for him by name and don't take no for an answer. another option is made available after 30 days from the date you requested the refund, that is a credit card charge back. talk to your bank to get that party started if you make it to 30 days (calendar, not business days). Good luck. and yes, never again.
