  1. Looks like "bottom half of December" is now "late December." Not that bothered personally. If this is true, then it's only the first delay we've had on the kits. If this were the third or fourth delay..then I would be more concerned. I say patience.
  2. I would guarantee you it's the Anovos kit. Given that Launch Bay is selling Anovos' Han Solo ensemble and Imperial Officer, it would make sense that the TK would be theirs as well. They're also upcharging all the costumes. TK is $1,200 online, $1,800 in store. Officer is $500 online, $640 in store... This is just my opinion but the photo that person uploaded is kind of at a terrible angle and makes the helmet look weird. Would be a lot easier to determine the make if it was at a more front-facing angle.
  3. I may or may not be a Cast Member at Disneyland and may or may not be able to get a solid answer for you guys, if you want one...
  4. I don't believe this is true. 3D scanning was in fact the method they used for creating this kit. Like I said, this is the same way DICE was able to create the models for Battlefront. Both DICE and Anovos have been pretty open about using this method. Yes, they have said kits will be formed from their own sculpt, but given their access to archive materials, how can their fan-sculpt be any worse than any already existing fan sculpts? I have an especially hard time believing their TFA kit is a fan sculpt, given they've made it public that they used digital files from the new film to produce the armor, as well as in-person access to the costumes. Sure, the TK kit may have some room for criticism since it's based on a 30+ year old costume, but with everything in the new series being derived from digital renders, to suggest that they wouldn't use them seems wrong. Watch some of their interviews, or even shoot them an email or talk to them in-person at a convention or event. I'm sure they'll be happy to discuss. I'm not trying to come off as an obsessive fanboy, but I don't really see why when a company says "We use process XYZ" the response is that they should be immediately distrusted. Just because they're new to the game doesn't mean what they produce should be completely discredited and scrutinized.
  5. I know that I have hardly been around in the 501st world, but there are some things I would like to say regarding Anovos' kit (I am open to admitting by bias- I have their kit ordered): There is a lot of talk about how accurate or not this kit is compared to other kits as well as the armor seen on screen.... We are all aware that Anovos' kit is based off of costumes from the Lucasfilm Archives, right? How many of the kits out there can appropriately make the claim that they come directly from scans of the original screen-used costumes? I know there are some kits out there that have come directly from a cast of stunt armor, or other fan builds that are extremely accurate etc. and that's a huge discussion I am honestly not that knowledgeable about myself, but it seems odd to me that so many people are already complaining about a kit that comes straight from the Archives. Like I stated initially, I haven't been around very long, and yes, I am biased towards Anovos because I gave them my money, and I know that there are plenty of extremely accurate kits that have been around from years which people are very happy with. But it seems really bizarre to me that so many in this community who have never been to the Archives themselves are complaining about a company owned by former Legion members producing armor taken directly from screen-used props that has not even shipped yet. This is the same procedure DICE used to create the in-game models for the new Battlefront video game, and everyone thought that was great. Sure, the current situation with the belt seems a little strange, but saying that an armor piece is "too sharp" and dismissing the whole kit's quality sounds like utter nonsense to me. Praising the current CRL and comparing it to everything also seems useless, as it can be changed, if need be, to suit any new developments or insights; in no way are the guidelines set in stone without the possibility of ever being changed. Correct me if I'm wrong/uninformed, but that's just my two-cents regarding the issue right now.
  6. Hey everyone, This comes very late, as I've been busy with work and class recently and have not had as much time as I would like to devote to this project. I have the Doopy E-11 and T-Jay's finishing kit all set up and ready to go! First timer when it comes to costuming and prop making, so this will certainly be interesting. After washing the pieces, I drilled out the barrel and stock holes, added space for the metal bar, sanded the stock tips to add real screws, got rid of the clearing strip, drilled the folding stock space-thingy, and flushed the trigger and guard to fit in the grip. Unfortunately due to time constraints in my schedule, and my general lack of knowledge surrounding tools and model building, I probably won't be able to make it look as accurate as some of the others around. This will probably be a pretty standard build. Please feel free to tell me if I've made any mistakes thus far, or any pointers you'd like to give- any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!
  7. Can you elaborate on this? As a SoCal dweller this is the first I've heard of anything coming straight from Disney.
  8. Hey everyone, Disney now has an app which allows you to purchase their park exclusives, which seems much easier than calling their 1-800 number to order an item. HOWEVER...the app currently does NOT have the E-11 blaster I have seen some users posting about, but I thought I would share it with you all in the event that they add the item to their app store at some point. Or in case anyone feels the need to own a Tractor that looks like a Stormtrooper. Keep your eyes peeled... https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/shop-disney-parks-mobile-app/
  9. Not sure when the back order list was started, but I got on it in late July. Hoping I made the cut for the 'late October' ship time...
  10. Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm leaning more towards the Doopy kit now, as for the price it seems pretty great and it'll give me some good experience with prop building. Some have mentioned Hyperfirm- are these comparable in price? Are they usually in-stock from whoever sells them, or are they done in runs? Thanks again, really supportive community here
  11. As I wait for my Anovos kit to come in, I've begun doing research on how do go about making my E-11, and right now I'm deciding between doing a Hasbro/Disney conversion and a straight resin Doopydoss kit. I'm worried about the 'troopability' of a full resin kit...knowing that resin would break easily if dropped, I've seen many people post that they opt for other methods, however no one is saying NOT to do it and there continue to be doopy build threads. I suppose what I'm getting at is the consensus seems a little wishy-washy to me, with nobody saying outright "don't do it" but no one saying "go ahead, it's perfect." I'm [mostly] confident in my own ability to handle a resin replica, but I worry about the tiny spazy hands of an excited kid who may want to hold it...thoughts from you guys?
  12. I've never liked the RotJ troopers... :/ The planet he's on is Sullust, which I don't know a lot about other than the few released pics and gameplay vids. Maybe he's wearing a giant air filter for ash and volcanic detritus?
  13. A few quick questions for those who own them- -How's the overall fit? I fit perfectly into US 10.5 Vans, but my Dr. Marten's size US 11 are too wiggly, so I'm cautious about ordering a larger size as some have suggested. -Final judgement on these vs tkboots? I don't own either, but the tkboots still look slightly nicer and cheaper than these...but I'm not sure if nice and cheap enough to justify waiting an apparently indefinite amount of time for.
