  1. I'm a first time builder too and believe me I suck at crafting and building things. As this goes along there are days of jubilation )first time I got my legs and lower torso on) and days like today when the stupid thermal detonator looks like crap and I'm not sure I can fix it. I've found that when I'm haveing a bad day I just step away for a while. Reach out to the forums here or the armor masters in my garrison. One thing I do recommend is maybe get a simpler costume approved first (I did and officer first. And then a tie) so you can feel the fun of trooping. It will help motivate you more. And you get to see more armors and learn tons. My grist troop I found out about 10 things I was going to do was going to make my life hell on my build. Also don't kill yourself going for centurion for the first time build. I was stressing the hell out of myself. Now I realize that I want to troop more than have a sticker on my user name (sorry but true for now). And take your time! You will do fine! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. It is a great kit. I am just constantly squrriling and jumping to other costumes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Some Serius progress made legs done. Buttons painted. Now I will start on the belt tomorrow. Pictures tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Depends on how long you want to wait. Anovos has yet to ship anything (other than tfa) look at some of the good kit suppliers listed here you will probably get it a lot sooner. And we don't even know yet if the anovos tk makes the crl requirements yet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Worked with some In my garrison. As a newbie I realized I am in no way ready to try and build a tfa armor (and it needs lots of fixes). I'll be happy when my tk is done. But been slacking and got my tie done first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Great stuff Locitus!! I will defiantly follow your directions! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Sorry for the lack of updates guys. Darth Life has interrupted with a death in the family. Also i got sidetracked with my Tie pilot (now approved TI-13073) I just got my garter system (thats what my wife calls it) from pencap510 and hope to get to fitting that and my legs soon. Also need to fisnish up fitting my torso (so close just need to fit the snaps for chest and the over sholders) I think i'm just procrastinating since i'm scared of the belt! hehe
  8. Had a very productive day.. Especially when i figgured out teh punchtool for the snaps is great for the friggin spit rivets hehe And yes i switched to the webbing. Thank you major on that one Also got my cotch buttons done And strapped. My big win was getting my butt plate one. But the reccomendation of my garrison armor master was do use the piano wire on the butt. Makes it more possible to sit if you need to Even tried on and did a fitting on the whole lower torso And yes i'm useing snaps on the other side. The dream of centurion died a long time ago in this build hehe. I jsut want to get my tk done and looking good for some big upcoming troops. Tomorrow the chest and back i think... gotta get that done so i can get the arms attached
  9. Ah ok I'll switch to webbing. Still having to fight the stupid spit things. Thanks for the heads up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. OK i am SOOO frustrated with these stupid alagator clip things.. I cant get theem ot open and stay open... Is it OK to Just Rivit the side pieces??
  11. Man Riggin and snaps.... Theres about a billion different ways to do it. So far ive been makeing snap plates and putting them on the armor, now i'm trying to decide how to do the abplate to back plate. Then hopefully once that works i can start sizeing some. I also did the snaps on the crotch pieces. Working onthe cutting of the elastic (hate it) hehe
  12. Yea gotta echo that the Rogers board is pretty useless. been posting there for a while. Or at least trying. Even did the 501'st registratin to hopefully get full acces to the site.. Still no luck. Now i have a finished Tie and am about to submit it for approval. Wonder if i'll get access there. Yes i know i was working on a TK but got a smoking deal on the Tie armor helmet and box so going for the quick cirt so i have some armor. I love my ID but who we kidding Armor gets all the love at troops hehe. And the TK is takeing me a lot longer than i expected hehe
  13. Yea void walker who just started his build (and a close personal friend) noticed no more thumb print on his mtk. We though his was messed up or something. Heh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Got it off eBay. Some on else had gotten most of the costume together including neck seals. Compression suit. Gloves tk boots. And the helmet was finished by mike himself. 850 for the whole thing. Who says you can't find good armor on eBay? Heh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. So litle update. In the time cosuming mode of snapplates... ugg.. but getting there.
  16. It was good. Learned lots. Got snap plates going. Still working on them. But progress is being made heheh. Sad part is we have a trooper that just got his tfa kit. So a lot of us jumped in to help trimming his kit hehe Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Yea thats why i left a LOT on the torso pieces. I'm pretty friggin happy with my arms and legs. Fit well and look good. Now the fun. Just got back from Joanns to get all my nylon and webbing... hope to knock it out at the armor party today
  18. So me and void did some telecommuting Armor partying hehe Anyone else?? hehe
  19. Heh well Moncal is a three person shop. Anovos alledgely has some factory in china. I orded a mon cal imperial navy helmet in july.. I'm placing bets i get that before anyone gets a vader or Tie pilot from anovos.
  20. Well considering Mon Cal did the sculpts, I don't think they would do that. Im still placing bets on if they will get raided by Better business bureau before they actually ship something. And how mad are people that the TFA is the only thing they are shipping. Heck it still says July (as of the time of this posting) for the Tie pilot. And while i completely understand it's very Alpha/beta seems the quality of the TFA kits leaves a whole lot to be desired. Why dont they do some alpha/beta trials of everything else (like the stuff ordered over a year ago?) By the way. I probably don't have a dog in this fight since i have not pre ordered anything from Anovos. I just hate seeing so many of my garrison mates and fellow troopers to be so upset and not getting the answers they are asking for.
  21. Yea i haven not made the decision on the strapping. I have a Piano wire pre built kit i got (forgot who sells them but got it off this forum) but lots of people have told me if you want to troop forget that and go with normal straps. I have an armor party tomorrow and hopeing to get lots of good help and info (and maybe beg for some help on the strapping and fitting and sewing) yes i'm bringing lots of beer as a bribe hehe
  22. WOW looks amazing! (i am SOOO not ready to try and build one of thoes! hehe)
  23. I just kinda started with video 1 from Trooper bay. Trimming of the fore arms
