  1. Hi Joseph I'm glad that you like it and thanks for the feedback which is always very welcome.

I also like to build things so thought that this would be a reasonably straightforward first venture in to the world of prop building.

I have actually modelled 3 variants of the C1 comlink one of which includes the larger diameter 'rings' rather than the fins shown in my earlier photographs so I will probably end up building that version too.

Just curious but do you know why the accessories are approved for hero but not stunt builds ?

Also if you could PM me the photos that you mention above it would be much appreciated as I do intend to look at producing a number of star wars related props.

I have actually modelled a number of different items already as a means of getting to grips with the 3D modelling software.

  2. I hope to have this finished today so will post a picture of the complete build once done.

Do any troopers out there wear these with there armour ?

Once completed I may look to produce a light sabre hilt and then it will probably be on to the big one..,....my Doopydoos E11 conversion.

At least doing these side projects will give me some time to save up for my armour kit.

  3. Ok the picture above is how it stands at the moment (My first attempt at a prop).

I still have some more work to do on this including black gloss paintwork to the central section, a metallic texturing to the tip and a metal mesh insert.

I also have some filing and cleaning up but hopefully you get a idea of what I am putting together.

  4. Well in preparation for building my own armour and Converted Doopydoos E11 blaster I thought that it would be interesting to have a go at making a prop or two of my own.

Firstly I produced s 3d model using some reference images I managed to get hold of and then printed it out on a 3D printer.

It is still a work in progress but I would be interested to see what people's think so far.

I'll post a few pictures shortly

  5. Very I'm very excited as my Doopydoos E11 full kit arrived today and what's more less than a week after finally being able to log on the the website when they had some in stock.

I just need to find the item with the lenses that I noticed on one of the topics last week.

I'm thinking that this could be a great starter project to get my teeth in to before purchasing my armour.

I shall learn some practical skills but above all have some fun.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions ?

I will of course also have another read through some of the posts from other members building the same kit.

  6. That's very reassuring to hear Joseph and I guess it is one of those things that once you get started with it doesn't seem so bad.

I am now about 90% sure that I will be going down the route of RS props for a helmet and armour as I like the idea of retaining the original imperfections.

I have also been reading through many of the posts regarding E11 blasters and intend to go for a Doopydoos kit and add a few modifications.

So hope fully I have lots of fun ahead.

  7. I'm pretty sure also that the scope doesn't actually work as I guess the focal lengths etc are not correct however I am curious to know what effect looking at the scope gives.

I have seen other methods where circular sections of CDs are placed within the scope.

    Both methods are very interesting.

In any event it is great work.

  8. I'm new to this forum but just have to say that this build is fantastic. It has really inspired me to look at building my own blaster rather than purchasing a finished blaster.

I can't really say which part I like the most as the build as a whole is amazing.

One quick question......What is the view through the scope like ?

EDIT Does anyone have a link for where the optics are for sale ?

  9. Thanks to everyone for all the welcomes and feedback.

On the subject of helmets I'll take your advice and go for a helmet from the same makers as my armour (Probably but not definitely RS props).

Having looked around the forum a little more I an also very tempted to work on a doopydoo E11 full kit rather than purchase a finished blaster (Once they are back in stock anyway). There are some great examples on here of what can be achieved and to be honest it all looks very interesting.

  10. Thanks very much for that Danny it is much appreciated.

I was originally thinking of purchasing some ready made armour but think due to the price I will probably opt for a kit.

I can certainly see the merits of putting your own armour together I'm just a little worried about ruining a good set of armour.

My thoughts at the moment are tending towards the RS propmaster armour.

With regard the helmet again I am considering a RS prop but may also have an option to buy a Master Replica helmet.

Firstly however I need to check if the MR helmet is suitable for the 501st. I am told that it isn't the plastic CE version which I know is not suitable but is the glassfibre limited edition ANH hero helmet.

Then I need to look in to which blaster to go for.

Looks like I have much more reading to do...all good fun though.

  11. I may have the opportunity to purchase a Master Replica Helmet. As I understand it this is not the plastic CE helmet with the joint across the face that I am aware is unsuitable for the 501st.

I believe that it is the fibreglass limited edition hero helmet from ANH.

Can anyone tell me if this helmet is suitable for 501st approved armour?

  12. I thought that I would make my first post on the forum to say hi.

I live in the East Midlands in England and am hopefully planning to start to put together a stormtrooper set of armor for eventual 501st membership.

I have a few ideas of what armour and helmet I may go for but probably need to do a little more research before I make any definite decisions......any save up too.

I have taken a few days to try to read through as many posts as I could to familiarise myself with the basics and try to get myself at least a little up to speed and am looking forward to getting involved with this community.
