RS Propmasters ESB TK slow and steady build in Portland, OR
daryldoak replied to Infern0's topic in ESB Build Threads
Most people store their photos on a hosting site, like imgur or Flickr, and link to them here so they appear inline. -
I used this technique that I found online... Put on two pairs of socks (might have to start with one pair) and stuff your feet into the boots, then use a hair dryer to heat the leather, then walk around really forcing your feet to stretch-out the leather, then leave them on and let them cool. Then add another pair of socks and repeat. Mine fit great now.

This issue is not critical to approval, but I would offer that you have the shins paired-up wrong, and that the longer ankle edge goes on the inside. (see Ukwrath's build to confirm) The easiest way to tell is to look at how the ridges match at the top of the shins. One set has a fat ridge, and one has a skinny ridge. Right leg. Correct on left, incorrect on right: Left leg. Correct on left, incorrect on right:

Welcome Garrett! We would be honored if you would join us over at the Cloud City Garrison forums: cloudcitygarrison.com Be sure to keep us updated on your build. -
I couldn’t get the link to work, but regardless I highly recommend not buying from eBay. Find a vetted seller in the welcome section.

Step 1 is to request Stormtrooper status. See this page for details:

Balaclava vs. Skull Cap?
daryldoak replied to Xanthais's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I wear a balaclava for two reasons: 1. sweat management 2. So people can’t see up into the helmet from below, which is really easy to do with most helmets. -
I’d wait to post on pre-approval until you can get some hi-res head-to-toe photos taken.

Lee's Shore/Tank Trooper Build - WIP
daryldoak replied to Hikuro1983's topic in Other 501st Costumes
I’d recommend starting a build on the ACD forums. http://www.armoredcavalry.net/ You’ll get better driver build feedback on those forums. -
We do lots of birthday parties in my garrison. They are usually short troops and normally have a large charitable donation.

I kept the screws in my chest, so it looks screen accurate from the front, but used the straps/buckles on the inside. Best of both worlds.
-
I would recommend lowering the chest to make the neck more comfortable. Try the adjustable strap technique I posted above to lower it. It will give you more flexibility.
-
Also, your chest bottom return edge looks a little thick, I’d recommend taking a mm or 2 off. Mine’s about 8mm.
-
D'Angelo, Without your undersuit on it's really hard to tell if your torso is actually high enough, it looks like it might be too low in the back. The back plate neckline looks really low. I had the same issue with the chest riding too high. I was caused by the brackets and elastics. I ended up swapping out for some straps with adjustable buckles. This will allow you to lower the chest.

You could put a tiny bit of e6000 on the screw, in the hole, to keep it from unscrewing.

Wal-Mart TK Boots?
daryldoak replied to willeywonka's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Classic 421s from imperial boots will take you to Centurion: http://www.imperialboots.com/product/421/ They sell in waves, so they are close until sometime in March. -
I just finished and submitted this costume, and it was approved today! I highly recommend Troopermaster's TS armor and strapping kit, and Rob Kittell's duster and pouches. Here is my build: http://www.blizzardforce.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=5787
