  1. I know guys have gotten the new backs, but I don't know about the new chests. That's kinda what I'm wondering. Interested in seeing the new chests since I'm placing my order for the AM kit. Wondering if I should go ahead and hit up ATA for the chest or just wait and see....
  2. I'm signed up for the Avengers one in November, and I did that before noticing that the Coast to Coast medal is in a CALENDAR year, so I kinda screwed myself there. Was going to do the Star Wars one since a) I'm a Star Wars nut and it's at the beginning of the calendar year. Like a moron, I forgot about the registration date. By the time I logged in, it was sold out. RunDisney is one of those you need to start hovering over your computer about 5 minutes prior to registration or risk not getting in. So, I'll probably just take it easy and do one of the cruises next year with a Star Wars Day at Sea. Wondering with all the re-vamps at Walt Disney World if they'll add a SW marathon on this coast as well. We used to have the Everest Challenge right around the same time as Star Wars Weekends, but this was the last year for that. Makes me wonder if they're gonna drop a race in for SWW to make up for it.
  3. Rebels is canon, but I get the feeling for 501st stuff it'll follow the same lines as Clone Troopers. If you're doing a CT from TCW, you're using the animated style armor. If you're using a CT from AOTC or ROTS, you're in the movie style armor. I'm not sure if anyone is making any animated style TK armor, but with more Rebels stuff coming up, I think it's probably not a bad idea. Honestly, I like the pauldron look as well, and the fix for that is to just do a HWT.
  4. 3rd for AM 2.0. I'm about 6'1" and 250, and I got to see a couple of sets of AM armor over the weekend. First off, it looks good. If you wanna go EIB or Centurion, there are some not so expensive tweaks you can do. If you're just interested in approval for right now, you're good to go out of the box. Second, it's huge. I'd heard it was great for us larger guys, but until I saw someone actually working with a set yesterday piecing it together, I was surprised. He was larger than me, kept trying it on and saying "Nope. Still needs to be cut down."
  5. Well, got the DLT-19 today (thanks again justjoseph63! Also awesome to finally meet you in person), and I love it. The faux nameplate on the bottom with the web site and the ID of the weapon is a nice touch I found while looking at it closely. It's one I have no reservations letting my 10 year old play with....or bounce. Will definitely be getting an E-11 from the HFx now.
  6. Basically, what I'm getting at is Anovos says the suit is for people up to 6 ft (I'm taller than that) and a "mesomorph" body style (I'm more of an endomorph if you look at their chart). I COULD spend the $450 on the Anovos armor and hope it works. Or I could go with the AM 2.0 armor that I know will work. That's why I'm saying it works for me. It's not necessarily the money as the pain in the rear and the time as well. I'm of the philosophy of it's easier to cut away plastic a little bit at a time than it is to add it, glue it, sand it and try to make it seamless. If the Anovos works for some people, go for it. I'm just not willing to drop several hundred bucks on something no one has really seen or worked with. On the undersuit, I'm less concerned with the undersuit meeting EIB and Centurion standards, as I know there's really not any. It's how the armor attaches with the strapping and rivets, etc. Granted, I'm not really up to snuff on that stuff, but it's something that kicks around in my head. Then again, I might not even be expressing myself clearly. I have that issue sometimes.
  7. The Doopy kits intimidate me. I'm getting a DLT-19 this weekend, and I'll probably wind up ordering an E-11 from them as well. Now I just need to decide if I'm going ANH Stunt or ESB with the armor. Leaning towards ANH Stunt since I could use the DLT-19 with that as well, but I'll likely do a Sandtrooper down the road, too.
  8. Yeah, I see what you're saying here, however that still doesn't address the fact that several (or a lot, who knows?) people are going to be on the edge or outside of their "mesomorphic" or height standards. If I can't make the armor fit without several hundred dollars worth of mods, it really doesn't matter that I saved money on the undersuit, neck seal, holster and gloves. The other thing that concerns me is the "arming suit" that allows for easy attachment of armor. Like I said, this lets you get by (probably) with basic approval, but if you're going for EIB or Centurion, who knows? I don't see $500 worth of savings in the soft parts section offsetting the gamble for me. But, like I said, that's just for me.
  9. I was seriously considering this kit, but there are just too many question no for me right now. Will I be able to make it fit me since I'm not the advertised body type? Will this suit they're making limit it to basic approval rather than going expert infantry or centurion? Yes, it's "only" $450 right now, but for a couple hundred more I can go with one of the armorers here already and not have to roll the dice on what is, for me, two big questions. If I was just looking for basic approval and/or fit their body type mold, I'd probably have jumped on it.
  10. Oh. That answers that. Had no clue that was slavefive's company.
  11. Some of the guys over on the IOC forums have bought stuff from them and seem pretty happy. I know they're doing a DH-17 prototype as well for one of the guys there.
  12. Stumbled across these guys when they were doing a contest with RPF guys. No website shop, but they've got a Facebook page. Looks like they make hyperfirm versions of DLT-19s, E11s and plenty of custom jobs. Pics on Facebook look pretty good, and they're prices are fair. Wondering if anyone on here had seen one up close yet. In the market for a DLT-19 and an E11, and I'd prefer a hyperfirm since I WILL drop it. I'm just that guy.
  13. Congrats!! I'm ordering the AM 2.0 next month. Still kicking around the idea of a different helmet, though. I figure I'll do the AM chest and back at first for basic approval, and I'll get a more accurate replacement down the road.
  14. Nice job. You do realize I'm gonna be leaning on you heavily when I start working on mine.
  15. I must have missed something somewhere. I'm probably getting the AM armor, but what is the MTK? I'm sure I'm just jacking up an acronym somewhere.
  16. Well, with the chest and back re-design, I guess there goes my last excuse for putting off the order. I'll be pulling the trigger on the AM armor next month or the month after that, finances depending. Anyone gotten the new chest/back pieces and shown them to their GML or anyone else involved in the Centurion program yet?
  17. What do you guys do to keep the top half from riding up while trooping? Tuck it into the bottom half or does the belt on the TK kit more or less keep everything in place? Trying to figure out what I wanna do before I start plopping down cash every where.
  18. Probably going with the AM specifically for that reason. Also, if you're in Davenport, I'm literally up the street from you. I'm just on the Kissimmee side of Poinciana.....
  19. Winter 2015. Whenever that winds up being.
  20. Would it be helpful when ordering armor to send in measurements to the makers? And if so, which measurements would be helpful? I've got a tape measure and someone to help me, so that's the hard part taken care of.
  21. I just got the details e-mailed to me on the AM kit this morning, and I'm probably gonna pull the trigger and order this one for me as well. Was debating on the Anovos because of the price, but with the not sure on the sizing or how the pieces go together, I'm playing it safe and just going with a known quantity, even if it is a bit more expensive. I know extra ABS for shims is included with the AM kit, too, so if I need it, it's there. If I don't, even better.
  22. Just to kinda piggy back, which armor makers offer PVC as an option? I've seen plenty of ABS, but I think the only PVC I've heard mentioned RS.
  23. I'm kinda looking into E-11s right now. I know I'll drop and shatter a resin one, so I'm leaning towards one of the rubber models. Looking at the description, I'm kinda curious what kind of "finishing" is required on he rubber model. I've done a few resin kits of other props, so I know there's gluing, sanding and painting involved with those. Never worked with a rubber kit, though.
