E-11 Blaster 3D Printed Parts
Machinimax replied to nmcguff's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
LOVE 3D printing! It's one of the best things to happen to the DIY prop hobby. I do the same myself for projects of my own. I don't own a printer but access to one at work. These are some parts I made for the interior components of a build It is going to be awesome to see one with the details 3D printed! The scope looks really cool. Keep it up! -
Those lenses change the game so much! If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was the real thing! So cool.

Absolutely beautiful all around! Fantastic build and wonderful use of the Blaster Core! -

And it's more fun to do the conversion yourself but that's just my opinion! -

I know it's good stuff, right? I love the cover image. Looking at Ford in this shot just screams Han Solo and the Chewie costume for this movie is perfect! Even knowing very little about Rey, Fin, and BB-8, they too bring that classic Star Wars nostalgia! -
Then maybe this will help even more! Made the bend it the front and drilled the mounting hole near the back. I loaded it up, looks fantastic, and is very firm and secure. I can drill the holes for the scope when it arrives and will then break out the spray can!

Today, I happened to acquire this. It's some part junked from an old filing cabinet. This will become my scope rail as the width, depth, and 90 degree bends are perfect. It looked like bantha poodoo at first but after some time on the polishing wheel, sandpaper, steel wool, and metal polish....... Compared to the original look, it looks brand new! It was actually reflecting! I just need to make another bend, drill a few holes, and give it a nice paint job!

TFX Studios actually.

I removed it but it will go back in. I'm going to put a switch behind it that will allow me to alternate between stun mode and the blaster bolt intensity.

Owning an E-11 replica has always been a fantasy of mine and fortunately it is now becoming reality. Best of all, I get to build it myself! That's half the fun after all! Let's see what we got here! First off the base, an S&T Sterling airsoft gun. Presently disassembled as I have deactivated it and removed all the airsoft firing mechanisms. I will be replacing the internals with a Plecter Labs Blaster Core v4 for lights and sounds. I will actually keep the motor you see there in the grip section. I discovered it can run off a simple 3v power source and therefore I can use it in conjunction with the Blaster Core as a rumble motor for the recoil effect. Here we have the cut down clip. Thank you to usaeatt22 for his tutorial on how to do so. This was a little different than working with a real clip since I not only had to cut through the metal but a plastic sleeve inside the clip that was meant to secure the BBs. The original bolt on the end of the clip was plastic so I took a screw head with the same diameter, blackened it with a little Birchwood Casey and secured it with a little epoxy. I love the finished product and it looks great loaded in. An ANH variant would of course be incomplete with a Hengstler counter so thank you to Dennis for his beautiful replica piece! Next I started giving some though as to how I am going to secure the new electronic internals. That's where these guys come in! One of the perks of being a high school engineering teacher: you get to play with the 3D printer. I drew the CAD files myself and let the printer do the rest! From left to right - the chassis that will secure the battery pack, soundboard, and recharge port, a holder for the trigger switch, and an L-bracket that holds the 6 LEDs for the ammo counter (which will take the place of the counter inside the Hengstler). Don't worry! The L-bracket will be painted black! Also I needed a way to keep the trigger from sliding around since there was nothing to secure it anymore since removing the original internals. So rather than scrounge though random washers hoping I would find a pair that would fit, I just made my own designs to precisely fit. That's all I pretty much have up to this point but there is still more to come. Right now I'm waiting on my scope and t-track orders to arrive and PlayfulWolfCub is preparing one of his super accurate power cylinder kits for me. As for the scope rail, I'm looking to create that myself since it is a relatively simple piece. I will keep you all up to speed as thing progress. Stay tuned!

Literally working on the same airsoft gun myself! Planning on converting it with lights and sounds. -

I actually just ordered one of these. Perhaps when it arrives I'll take some pics and do a review. -
Great E-11 SketchUp 3D Model!
Machinimax replied to Machinimax's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Yeah those were a bit off but other than that I think he hit the nail right on the head. -
So I know we are very familiar with E-11 sizes, dimensions, parts, etc, but I found something that I would love to share. There is a great downloadable 3D model of an E-11 blaster in the online warehouse of the program SketchUp Make. The level of detail on this model is absolutely fantastic! Every little bit and bob has been accounted for, even the spring. I was even able to explode the model into individual components or delete features to give it the ESB look. Best of all it is 1:1 scale. I measured a few parts and they were perfect. Again, I know we are pretty familiar with dimensions and sizes here but I figured I would share as I feel this could be a great help for beginners or for those doing scratch work. Here's the download link! Enjoy! https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=3a8526095bae7e553c79ad8cab094d8

I did it...ordered one! I came to this forum for blaster builds. I didn't think I would get into building armor but there were so many people on other forums I'm on who were going for this I couldn't resist after that. I always had a thing for stormie armor but it was always way to expensive for my tastes. This kit changes everything. It really is a fantastic deal that is hard to pass up! So excited!

Thank you both! I'm finding both suggestions useful.

Does anyone sell L-brackets for mounting the Hengstler counters to the scope rail or recommend a place where I could get one? Hardware store maybe?
-
I have ordered countless time from The Custom Saber Shop. I can personally guarantee that you will not regret purchasing from them. I have built two custom sabers, converted a Master Replicas saber with improved sounds and lighting, and converted a Graflex flash handle into a Luke Skywalker ESB hilt with the parts they sell. They have everything from hilt parts, to sound boards and even a chassis system for securing internals. In short, if you are thinking of buying, DON'T HESITATE!

Looking for Hengstler Dimensions
Machinimax replied to Machinimax's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Ahh this looks interesting! So what's the main difference between the two and what material are they? Even if they are resin, they look phenominal and just may be exactly what I'm looking for! However, is there a reason these threads are locked? -
Hi everyone! I'm new here and was told by a friend from the Imperial Royal Arms Forum that you might be able to help me out. In my soon-to-be-new quest of building an accurate Stormtrooper blaster, I've been on the hunt for Hengstler counters. Here's my dilemma: I don't want to pay the price for a real one but don't a resin cast either. What's a guy to do??? Well, I contacted Evolution Props and asked if he could make an aluminum replica counter. He said with correct reference, it shouldn't be a problem. He told me he will be on holiday until April 23 and I told him I would search for more reference material during that time. Here's what I need from you guys. If you have a Hengstler or a blaster that has one, I could use dimensions, as much as you can get me: height , width, length, depths of grooves or milled areas, anything and everything. The more we collect, the more accurate he can make the part! Thanks for your help everyone! Let's make this come to life!
