Questions about my TK for Elite
Darth Nerdius replied to Darth Nerdius's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I haven't done the butt plate split yet... I might redo the shims and make them slightly bigger as I took too much off when I trimmed and now I have the technique down. -
Questions about my TK for Elite
Darth Nerdius replied to Darth Nerdius's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Here are some dodgy pix I just took so you can see a bit closer. I need to sand the shims more and paint the rivets but then again I might just do the shims again differently. Either way you get the idea of what I am trying to do. Also the here is a pic of the face so you can see lenses + blaster. -
Questions about my TK for Elite
Darth Nerdius posted a topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey all, Working on what I need to do for elite status and would value some feedback. Here is a side, a front and a back picture. Since this time I have fixed and shortened the shims to have a better curve (so they don't stick out awkwardly at the sides), riveted the ABS belt to the canvas belt and made the torso sit higher on my body. Other than that these pics are fairly accurate (what I submitted for my 501st a few weeks back hence the red background albeit sloppily dressed). What I know I need to do. * Fix the MRCE Chin/get an AP Bucket. Already done the teeth but maybe not enough? * Split the rear torso. I am not sure why, but the split in my rear torso is right in the middle of where the canvas belt sits. Is there any issue to cutting it about an inch under the line for cutting so it lines up with under my belt as it is meant to?? Also is this blaster OK for Elite? Can anyone think of anything else that needs work on this kit to get to elite other than the above? Anyone see anything I can make better or need to do? Opinions welcome! -
As you can see my noggin is long and skinny

here's how I did mine. Go to this thread if you'd like some of this stuff: -------------

Rom F/x ???? any one buy recently???
Darth Nerdius replied to Velcro's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Yeah the foam came from Derek (D-Mac) and is chopped up knee pads. I can thoroughly recommend as it is very good stuff and he is a nice bloke too. I think he is still doing the foam from memory or at least I hope so as I might need some for my TB lid I am probably going to remount it in the chest actually as the short thing is of concern. But what I am doing is getting my TK to a point where I can use it and then I am going to refine the hell out of it as people do. All sorts of different things I want to do, but there is no point refining it until I am 501st approved and have a full set of armour I can wear -
Rom F/x ???? any one buy recently???
Darth Nerdius replied to Velcro's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Yup, I ordered and my classic arrived last Monday and I am well chuffed let me say It's a superb piece of kit...Painful to mount in a helmet, expensive (more than the bucket) but noooice. This is the pilot version (ie gaffer tape until I am sure) of how I have done mine. I actually cleaned it up and it is very effective so I am thinking of buying white gaffer and calling it the production mounting so to speak The helmet is constantly changing until I am happy with the config of it...best thing I did was use industrial velcro on everything in the helmet so I can move it all around as needed ------ -

Any one help me getting some helmet screws
Darth Nerdius replied to Darth Nerdius's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
yeah got them bookmarked already but I'll need to order a few hundred to get them to ship internationally as they wont do a box of a 100 by itself to ol' Australia, and as you said they do charge a bit for shipping. If worst comes to work I'll fall back to them. -
Hello from Australia! Guys I have been trying in vain to get a hold of the right helmet screws to mod my MR CE helmet but the fact of the matter is those things are next to impossible to get here in Australia for a whole range of reasons. soooooooooooooo is there any kind stormtrooper out there might be able to get a bunch of them, say 100 (so other troopers here can have some too if they want) and send them to me here in australia. I'd have to order like 500 and to get them sent here and they charge heaps of dollars to send here...of course I'd pay for 'em Any kind Trooper out there care to help me here in modding my MR CE? thanx!

Heya everyone, Curious about decals. I got the dodgy undersized tube stripes off my MR CE and put someone new ones on there but I am convinced they are too big and that maybe I got FX ones. yes I know they are a little uneven but I am going to do them again anyway. ----------- Anyone have any info on these varying sizes for various sized helmets and what is good for what...and maybe a PM as to who to get them from? thanx

Getting a hold of rustoleum...
Darth Nerdius replied to cr4nky's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I can't seem to get rustoleum here in Australia either. So yesterday I went to a hardware store and asked for "White Gloss enamel anti rust spray paint" and they had some alternatives. One was a epoxy white enamel gloss rust protection spray can. Which I was going to check and I am sure you can get some thing generic that is similiar. I told him what I wanted to do with it (ie stormtrooper helmet that was gloss white on ABS) and he reckoned it would do just right as long as it was primed correctly. I haven't tried it yet tho but i will. So don't get stuck on the Rustoleum brand and go for the product. -

Cos-Effective Gloves - reccommended
Darth Nerdius replied to rapstertee's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I have nomex flight gloves too and they are nice indeedly. Very comfy and look good. And pffft to gettin' ripped off in the UK. <In Yorkshire Accent> Luxury! Come to Australia! Air here costs AUD$0.50 a litre+ 10% GST! -
In 6 days! Under a week. If you do EMS it's lightining fast. I ordered some FX Sabers from Calif and they were here in like 4 days. I coudn't figure out what the package was for me as it couldn't have been the sabers that fast, but it was! Impressed, I was. Talk like Yoda, I shall. EMS to Aus is a damn good service as they have a reciprocal agreement with USPS. The idiocy is for me to ship an FX saber internally within Australia intercity costs *MORE* that getting one shipped to Australia from the US! Bizarre! Someone is ripping someone off somewhere. Anyhoo back to topic, there was no issues with Caboots from my end so order away!
