Tusken finally cleans up; AP TK build started!
Spycee replied to Tusken RTT's topic in ANH Build Threads
But if you lower your shins you will gain more space behind the knees so it should be OK for moving. -

It looks great ! The shins should be lower though. I also have this problem with my boots, I'll probably use Velcro. Are you able to climb stairs ? It seems you don't have a lot of open space behind your knees, it can causes problems while moving. On my armor I will have to have a larger gap to walk and use stairs easily. -
Yeah, I wasn't able to describe it correctly in English, and you are in France, so ... :-)

I'm preparing the side shim, the left one : I put this piece under, with notches to have space for rivets / snaps and the notch at the bottom :
-
@Scott : Thanks ! Those snaps may be hard to place, they must be exactly at the right place, if not they snap out easily. Mines are a bit limit.
-
@Ian : Yeah, it's the rubies one. For the price it's very interesting, 25$ shipping included to Canada. After doing the armor, I'll weather it, it should look (I hope) nice. Thanks !

@Steve : Thanks ! And for the thigh ammo is it what you mean ? :

What I do is add an elastic that goes under the ab and attaches the 2 sides of the butt. It seems to work for the moment. -
Adding the kidney shim- not bad but..........

Most impressive. I wish I'll do something like that. -
Thanks for your comments I took better pictures ! Well ... I tried. I can't explain my bad skills at photography The sniper plate is misaligned on the right side ... But if I want to have the sniper plate ridge fit with the shin ridge I have no choice. For the thigh ammo you mean cut it like that ? : So here are the new pictures : I put a snap over the split rivet : The paint is a bit chipped on the gun due to Halloween, and I still need to do a bit of weathering : I made the holes for the side rivets :

I have problems with the lighting in my pictures ... Here's the gun I'm currently making :

My AP Build....From PEI Canada...Definitely a WIP
Spycee replied to Racasey06's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I think you need to shorten your leg pieces, beginning with the shins. The space between thigh and shin seems very small, you may have problems with the sniper plate and thigh ammo (I think). And it would help with the bending. -

Ah ! We have the same trouble for the ******* sniper plate ! I was able to place it correctly on the front and sides but it is not straight when viewing for the front due to the fact that a side of the shin is lower than the other. -
The helmet is nice. Keep up the good work ! There's so much gluing to do, and the 24h needed by the E6000 doesn't help, it can be discouraging sometimes ...
-
@Andrew : Thanks ! I won't forget, it's just that I have to buy white paint that is whiter than the one I have. It will be a lot prettier in pure white I also need to paint the screws on my helmet. @Ryan : I'm 5'11". I was able to climb stairs with the thigh as-is but it wasn't very easy, but the further trimming will help a lot. If the thigh trimming is not enough, I'll trim the shin a bit. You can do that, it will also help. Good luck !
-
I also had drifting problems, it's hard to put the clamps right when that happens. I reclamped very slowly, while maintening the stripe with the other hand, and used magnets to help a bit.
-
Hmmm I don't remember if I washed it just before or just after... Anyway it's now washed, I'll see next time. Thanks for the idea, it's probably that.

The thigh ammo is riveted to the thigh, another thing done ! : I also did the 2 snaps on the butt, looks very good to me, picture soon ! But the knee plate ... it's another story. I tried to place it correctly, here is the result : The left and right are not at the same height, it seems impossible to make it fit right ... Oh, and I have a question : after trooping for a couple of hours, I saw that there is a (kind-of) red stain on the armor, at the bottom of the ab, on the thigh and on the shins. What it could be ??? It seems related to my undersuit, it is where it rubbed on me. Here is an example :
-
On mine I removed the back ridge, it helped a lot to fit correctly. Try remove only 1 ridge first, it is possible that removing the 2 will be too small for you.
-
For the thigh ammo, here's how I will place it : And for the back thigh, I began to cut them a bit to ease walking, and I plan to cut them more, does it look ok ?
-
I'm searching for a good snap to put on the butt piece, does it look ok ? The only problem I see with it is that it doesn't enter completely in the plastic (as seen on the second picture) ... I had to cut it a bit around the hole, it's the right hole in the last picture, and even like that it doesn't enter completely. Maybe it's not a good snap for that ?
-
This is the best I can do : 1". I can breath ok, even if it's a little tight. It's a shame to shim for a so little gap ... I finally succeded to join the ab and the kidney but I can't breathe. I find that my belt is a bit far from the ab ... Is it ? I can't get it closer, the snaps prevent it. And I have trouble with the butt plate, it doesn't seem to fit right ... I installed the rivet at the bottom of the ab, and put a snap on the other side :

I knew the picture existed somewhere on the forum, thanks ! It's almost exactly what I'll do.
