  1. Hey guys I'm finally coming back around to looking at this stuff. Once the helmet itself becomes available I'll look at it. The armor looks good, and by the time money comes around again, the jury should be out on approval.
  2. So is acrylic the way to go? Are water-based paints ideal?
  3. What about the "ready to airbrush" paints that are on the market currently?
  4. What's the cost overall of a finished RS suit anyway?
  5. Hey what would a black bucket like that go for? Can I get a black ATA?
  6. What I like is that it looks decent. It's got a compressor, and much of the basic stuff. If I throw in $30 more, I'll get the cleaning stuff to boot.
  7. Thanks for the info! I'm looking at the Master Airbrush kit on Amazon. Is it a good kit?
  8. Thanks for the tip. I'm looking at getting an ATA bucket, and I want to actually paint the tube stripes on. Is spray paint good to go with here, or is the $70 Amazon kit good?
  9. Hey guys, as the research continues (going on 3 solid months) I wanted opinions on something. How difficult is it to learn to airbrush? Is it worth buying a kit to paint up a bucket, or is good old Krylon the way to go?
  10. My suggestion is to NOT buy armor right away. Wait a bit, and research. There's a lot of options available. I myself haven't bought a set yet, but I'm playing with helmets to get used to how the hobby works. Play around, read, and figure out what works for you. Before I started reading, I didn't know an FX from an AP, from an ATA. Learn, absorb. Welcome by the way.
  11. I myself want to paint my tube stripes on (using the stencil on trooper bay) how can I paint these on, without it coming off?
  12. So I'm going to order an ATA bucket as a "practice" bucket. The buckets are cheap, and available. I'll go with a fully trimmed out AP kit once I have the cash. I want an affordable starter bucket that I can get used to, and one that I can be happy with.
  13. I'm jealous. I'm going to be doing an ATA build as a learning experience, and then buying a finished AP as a display piece.
  14. How do I get ahold of ATA? What's the pricing?
  15. No, but start researching. Hit up your garrison, go to an armor party.
  16. Funny thing is, usually the crappy helmets go for the same price as a good one, you just gotta find what you're willing to part with.
  17. Hit up any of the vetted armor guys around here. See if you can snag a cast-off or two. I'm in a similar situation myself regarding a project. Waiting for AP to get an order of mine done.
  18. Since I'm a bit of a youngin, I'll say this: I fell in love with the original TK from the moment I saw ANH in 1997 when I was 7. I loved the pure evil look from the moment the door got blasted open in the first scene. If I, who wasn't born for another 13 years after the first film came out, can fall in love with the TK, then I'm pretty sure kids who see the new trilogy first will still love the TK.
  19. If one can be had affordably yes. I realize they're old and outdated, that's why I want one. I'll never troop in it, I just want to physically handle one and see what the ins and outs are. I'm FULLY aware that it's inaccurate. Ugly too.
  20. Yes, I'm morbidly curious. Are they cheap since they're so pasé?
  21. Hey guys, as I continue my journey into TKdom, I was wondering...who makes a ROTJ-specific helmet anyway? I know there are some significant physical differences, but everything is an ANH. Where can I start?
  22. Looks absolutely fantastic. I've got a few helmets I'm waiting on from Mark. I'll be following your process closely.
  23. I want the two aerators at least. I hate one on one side, but not the other
