  1. Good stuff. Thanks for feedback. Mr. Stripes got back to me as well and said he's received no complaints with ATA. Just got a little worried when I read that after I bought them. I'll definitely be checking our you build thread.
  2. I did several searches in this forum, but it didn't come up with anything which I thought was odd. The question is, who out there has built an ATA kit with Mr. Stripes screen accurate strapping brackets? I was reading in the sale thread (which does go back a few years) that he had not tried them with an ATA kit. I guess the uncertainty was in regards to the thickness of the ABS and how the bracket screws/nuts would affect the ABS once tightened. Anyone out there use them with ATA and did you have any problems with them. Thanks!
  3. My buddy bought one these kits. They are not the sharpest pulls you'll see. They are VERY lightweight, which is great for carrying around, but they tend to be on the fragile side.
  4. Oh wow...I"m in the EXACT same boat. I have next to no room in my bucket and have to bit onto my mic when putting on my bucket. I will be trying this approach.
  5. I'm basically in the same boat... a friend of mine gave me a set for almost nothing. I sold the bucket and got an ATA because I knew already that they are just too big looking.I went through and did the cover strip/butt joint method on everything to make it look more accurate. I'm going TD with it. I'm not done with it, but when I am, that would be a real shame to get attitude from someone about it. I'm mean really....armor snobs??? I'm a cooler nerd than you are.....neener neener neener!!! Laughable.
  6. Since the Aker has a clip, I made bracket with some ABS. Not sure how it will work out yet as I just installed in yesterday. Just figured that if I need to mess with the settings, it will be easier to pull it off the bracket than trying to fight the industrial strength Velcro. Time will tell. -----------
  7. I signed up for the cheer squad. They are keeping registration for that open apparently. I did this once before in my WW2 USMC uniform for the Avenger Half Marathon earlier this year. It's an early day as mentioned before and they want you to maintain the enthusiasm all through the race. They kick you down with a free park hopper though that is good for a year. My TD probably won't be in time so I'll be there in Staff Officer uniform.
  8. What do you all put your plaster in when storing it? Do you just put with your armor or do you put it in it's own case? Looking for some ideas on a case of some kind.
  9. I assume the normal "Industrial Strength" Velcro works fine for this?
  10. Ok...that does help me with sizing. Based on the above, I should probably go with the medium since I'm about a 34 pants. It should fit pretty tight. Are the waists of the bottoms elastic-ish???
  11. For BCG, any idea on the size break down? I don't see a size chart so I'm not sure what would fit me.
  12. Glad I found this... I have the same question on who has been able to fit what inside there bucket. If you were able to fit all 3 systems, what helmet maker did you go with? Please keep the feedback coming on this thread!!
  13. Yes...I already have the kit and I've seen the EIB level tutorial, so I'll making those mods at bare minimum. I'm probably going the TD route with this as well, so the ab buttons won't even factor in. I'd be interested in seeing any WIP pics you may have, or maybe just some detail shots on your completed kit. I'm shopping for snaps/strapping/etc. I was in the Legion back in 2002ish and put together a FX kit back then with Velcro only and as you can imagine, it didn't work very well.
  14. Those look to be MICH helmet pads. If they are, the system is modular using velcro backing. I'm leaning towards this when I get going on my bucket. There are several options out there, but here's one: http://www.amazon.com/Aftermarket-Upgrade-Pads-Helmet-Velcro/dp/B00A4TNQ8A
  15. I'll just tack on to this thread. I have a FX kit. It was more or less given to me so I want to make it work. I would like to get some info on if this armor can be put together using the butt joint/cover strip method? I thought I saw a post somewhere saying that it could be done. Anyone out there ever do it?
  16. Necropost here, but I wanted to know for some of these balaclavas listed above...can they opened to expose the entire face?? If not...does anyone have any recommendations for one that will expose the entire face?
  17. What did you search on? My 11 y/o would love to do this too! **Disregard** wasn't using the search function correctly...I found it.
