  1. Btw, if anyone needs to know... Academys BCG compression tights are a perfect color match with the under armor tops! For some reason or another, my old bcg top was somehow darker than my new bcg tights. May just be a color variant that wouldnt be as noticeable, but it bugged me, so i went under armor for the top....the under armor also breathes a lot better Just thought id pass down some friendly info for someone who needs it
  2. I just used some scotch brite, and some 400 grit sandpaper. Mainly used sandpaper, and used the scotchbrite to kinda help clean up a bit
  3. Thank YOU for yours as well! I must say we aren't half bad at these hasbro conversions lol
  4. I used gold to emulate a bronze undercoat as seen in some of the screen accurate blasters, that way when i weathered it it would look more accurate. If your looking to weather at all, a couple of coats of silver before black will help the blaster look more authentic, metal looking once its weathered. Its not a necessity, but if ya want the blaster to look better when its weathered, do silver first, then black. I went with a paint/primer combo of silver before spraying a flat black on my blaster. But that was just my choice. I would highly recommend doing a silver undercoat before painting it black if you plan on doing any weathering at all. The gold is really up to you, but if ya look at screen accurate weathered blasters they do show bronze. Hope this helps!
  5. Exactly why I asked. Should be receiving my kit within the next week or so and am thinking of starting with the helmet first. PMed ya Mike
  6. It will, but will they be ok for EIB/centurion approval? I know they have to be hand painted or at least have the hand painted look, thats why I ask
  7. Looks awesome! Great choice with the Jar Jar as well it was fun building these e11s with ya Kyle! What did ya put in the front of the blaster btw? And do ya plan on fitting a scope lens to the front of the scope?
  8. Wondering if anyone with a NE helmet knows if the Dave M hand painted looking decals from trooperbay will fit appropriately. I emailed them, and they said they dont think so, but I really want a bonifide yes or no. If not, anyone had luck with the masking templates? I am no artist when it comes to painting, and am looking for other alternatives. My armor will hopefully ship next week so I am scrambling for the last minute accessories needed(which is basically only paint/decals).
  9. Perhaps after my TK is completed i will give it a whirl! Until then, ill have to research the heck outta the Ironman armor! Or even a mini TK for my son!
  10. So basically, just slap on the DD kit to the hasbro? If ya read my build, and Zarlon's build, its not much more than a basic hasbro build, but I did include many pictures of the little mods I did decide to go with. Its a lot easier than you may think sir! I was a tad intimidated at first, but once I got going It just all came together
  11. Yup sure did! I went with the Hasbro mainly because I wanted something the kids can enjoy while i am trooping. I will be in the market for a pipe build kit at some point for accuracy though. The process of building my hasbro conversion gave me full confidence in a future build, and it was a blast to make it! On top of that, whenever I do decide to go along with the pipe build, I already have the needed materials/tools to do so. Whatever you decide, I highly recommend building one. There are so many threads available that will guide you, it is really easier than you may think it would be.
  12. What kind of mods are ya looking to do to the hasbro? That may be important in fully answering your question. All the above posts are a great starting point though! There are great recent hasbro builds to choose from as well. And DEFINITELY get a dremel if you don't own one already. Get one with adjustable speeds as you will need it on different parts of the hasbro. Also, sandpaper is a must! I used 400 grit and 220(i think).
  13. Mask it off with painters tape before ya put the blaster back together..make sure you are able to access the tape(leave a decent sized lift of tape on top of the mask)...i used long tweezers to get mine off... As for the front of the muzzle led, ive seen many use a straw to cover it up
  14. Almost wishing I had integrated the pipe build into my hasbro, but its just my first E-11 anyways, will be doing an actual pipe build kit within the next year
  15. Looks good David! I see i've started a trend with the rear of the scope if your able to pressure fit your lens into it, it should be fairly easy to take back out if ya decide to change whatever decal you use
  16. Thanks Kyle! Im actually in the works to providing custom blaster stands with customized paint jobs. Once I move into the house and get the marriage said and done I will begin building stands for sale here, and they WILL look much better than the one I made for myself, as it was really just a fun project to test my limited amount of work room. Heres the clear coat I went with, its still drying now, but will be finally completed tomorrow.
  17. Thats exactly what i am looking to do with the clear coat. I do not want my blaster weathered anymore than it currently is., but don't want it to shine like new either. Hopefully I will pick up some clear coat tomorrow, as I don't have much planned besides catching the World Cup final. Will post concepts of the art work my artist friend has for me whenever he sends them. Instead of a more corporate/standard issue look, I an aiming for a customized look to it. He does excellent work and tends to know exactly what I want without me telling him. Shouldn't be more than a few days before its posted, stay tuned!
  18. Just a small update, meeting with the artist tonight to drop off the blaster stand. Should be about a week before its completed! Also, any preferances on clear coating the hasbro? I was thinking of a satin clear coat, but would love some advice on the matter. Thanks!
  19. Thanks Chris! The armor choice will come to you sir! Everyone has opinions about each of the armors, what it really matters is what you want to get out of it. Im counting the days until we are able to run the machines after hours once the work load steadies. On with your build though sir, when life allows it of course
