  1. Or disagree, for that matter. The thing you want is something you'll likely never see happen. The thing is, the Legion is of the members in the end. I'd hate to be the one to say "this costume is no longer accurate, if you want to remain a member, you need to spend 1000+ USD and work such-and-so much hours to get a new costume. We're not in it to drive members away. We can promote accuracy to those with older costumes, not enforce it. Personally, I really don't enjoy building costumes all that much as people think I do (funny coz there are people who really think I do, that I strive to perfectness and what not, it's so not true, I have two left hands and would rather pay someone to build it for me). It's not as bad when I do this together with others, have some drinks and laughs and socializing, that's the fun part for me, but right now I'm fixing/finishing up my TFA by myself and after an incredibly amount of hours sanding, I'm honestly completely done with it. I didn't become a member because I like to tinker with things, I became a member for the things the Legion does outside building armor, for the socializing and because I love SW. Once it is approved, I will likely only work on it when there is a damage. If it is approved and they find something new that needs to be on there for new approvals, up to everyone themselves if they want it, you wont see me upgrading all too easily. Point is, as long as the costume is still in possession and not in state of disrepair, and as long as there is no lapse in service, nobody should lose their membership just because one person feels the costume is not up to par anymore. I'm no fan of the FX bucket and signed the petition to get rid of it, but I am not going to tell our long time members they need to get a new helmet. I will support it, but not force it on them.
  2. Yeah they told me about ACE.. we have them on the island, but they're not exactly near us lol, I was hoping to find something somewhere more accessible to me, but will try ACE if nothing else
  3. Thanks, I was afraid for this. Guess I'll have to look a bit further for a decent one The JB PlasticWeld has a PSI of 360, the DevCon one has a PSI of 3500. This is a bit why I was wondering
  4. Quoting myself here, coz it may be overlooked being on the end of the previous page. Anyone any idea about the JB PlasticWeld?
  5. Interesting to see there's so many people with issues around the shoulders, personally I feel that part to be one of the more sturdy parts of my costume. The part where I am having problems, is more with the torso part, since I have to flex that more to get in and out to, and is a lot more flexible to begin with. It is currently bondo'd as per the instructions (or how we believed them to be anyways (many of us never had to work with bondo or plastic weld before, so we didn't know about those parts better not to be bondo'ed)) but when I get cracks, I will see about plastic weld of some sort. Still trying to figure out which one would be the best for me to get
  6. Ah ok, that explains. Glad to hear it's not an actual damage that potentially could lead to greater damages. Guess the photo made it look worse than it really is
  7. lol I never worked with his armor before, so I didn't know. I initially heard it from someone else, and then saw it confirmed on various FB channels (which, in a way, kind of irked me considering we were under NDA and things were said we weren't allow to speak of ourselves).
  8. I could be wrong, but I don't think there is that much reference material yet. At first sight, the costume seems to have some significant changes to the regular TFA TK, I wouldn't be surprised if they wait with that until the movie comes out.
  9. Actually, once the forum opens up with all the reference pictures, there will likely be pictures with a ruler next to the belt to show the exact sizes. Not sure why you would need them at this point, but the Anovos kit does come with the belt included (unless you're creating your own kit, that is)
  10. Thanks for the explanation Wyatt. You're right, I'll wait and see what happens, it doesn't matter if it isn't visible, just wondered about it because I believe I saw some of those lines on the (non-Anovos) references. As for the part I meant, I circled the bit of the image that looks as if there is some damaging going on. It may be a picture, or even just dirt or anything, I have no idea really lol: And lol yeah I get it hahaha Glad to see the 'First transport is away'
  11. Wyatt, two questions.. on the part where it says "Imperial", isn't that visible when wearing? I thought I could see the lines that are normally there when people are wearing it. Second question is about the last picture of your first post, it shows the gasket connected but it looks like the gasket is damaged or something on the top right part of the picture (it looks a bit rough)?
  12. So I've been looking for the DevCon plastic weld but nothing is readily available too close by.. I did see something else, namely JB PlasticWeld.. any opinions on this? I noticed the PSI was considerably less than the one advertised for DevCon (360 where DevCon said 3500 or so online) Or should I go with something else from DevCon with a higher PSI instead? There are other epoxy products from DevCon that are sold in my area. Or is the PSI not even going to matter? (I honestly have no idea, it's all new territory for me)
  13. Maybe in the future, but the current batches are coming from California instead. The supplier posted this on FB more than once I'm not sure if all this should be too much of a worry. Dean has been saying before in the ANH Anovos thread that their ANH suits would built for wearability rather than accuracy... for all we know, it may need mods in order to get it accurate and approvable.
  14. One thing we noticed with snaps and the gaskets was that you will have to be very careful when you want to take them off, the snaps seem to be sliding through the rubber gaskets quite easily.
  15. Point taken, I forgot about the velcro and thought it was going to be attached directly to the ABS lol
  16. It's all a matter of point of view anyways.. We just have a cranky boss, but we try to keep order in the galaxy... those pesky rebels are always messing things up, and blaming it on us
  17. The problem with permanently attaching them to the thighs, would be that it makes it kind of impossible to switch them around if you have the fabric gaskets and or the rubber ones..
  18. On the gut question, it was said that you can't have a waist bigger than 38 inches or you would need to mod.. however, I was at 41 inch waist when I checked and needed only about an inch of a shim (I was actually able to fit it without the shim, but it would be while holding my breath, and it wouldn't be comfortable). However, there's a line in the middle of the back that you can cut in half and that could act as a corset (mine is held together with velcro straps, but there's others who actually have a strapping system with laces for example), the detonator part goes over the entire length of that line, so you wouldn't see it, unless your belly is significant larger than this and the gap would exceed the width of the detonator. The only problem is, indeed, the chest plate. I have a good feeling that most people who have a little bit of a gap between the chest plate and the back plate (which is supposed to sit flush) is created by having a belly slightly too big. I hope to find a solution for this still (besides losing weight! lol), because I hate the look of it.
  19. lol I posted that a few days ago in another thread, only to remove it again because I realized I posted it in the wrong thread xD I'm surprised it takes people sometimes so long to catch up on those things lol

  21. **edited** I just realized my reply here was totally in the wrong thread
  22. There are areas in the world where props resembling a weapon (even if you make them fluorescent orange for example) are illegal to own. As such, the 501st always made blasters optional legion wide, so I highly doubt we will see a requirement now That said, any CRL where it is added as option, it does state it needs to be accurate if present, which I imagine to be the same in this situation
  23. You mean the ANH TK, and not the TFA? Either way, in both situations the answer would be: it depends on a case-by-case base. No armor is approved out of the box. This is likely even more true when you buy it pre-assembled because it may not be fitting correctly to your body, and that is one of the things the 501st looks at with approvals. The thing with the Anovos ANH TK is that nobody has seen that armor yet, and as such it would be a risk for the buyer to purchase. We don't know how, for example, accurate the bucket will be. If they went with a bucket that is inaccurate of proportions, you will likely not be able to get it approved. Right now, nobody knows, only after we see the actual armor (which (hopefully) will be in the winter, we can for certain if the armor can be approved at all, if build and worn correctly. But right now, nobody knows anything yet.
