  1. I'm sure this has been discussed many times over but....how/why are they able to sell this garbage?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Well anyone can sell anything, and they obviously mass produce it for people that are dumb and don't do research! (glad i did) :), and Jedi robe and Rubies makes it for people that want a ready to wear armor without any struggle and for lazy people. So those who are not aware buy this crap.. lol. Glad i didn't...

  2. Only 29 for me so far this year (down on last years tally Jan-Oct. by about 10)

Over on the UKG all our troops are officially sanctioned (no non-cannon) and have to go through the 'Event Sign Up' system.

Each troop you complete / partisipate in is listed on your 'Service Record' and the 'Garrison Service Record' which details the date, event, and costume that you trooped.

It's a great system, you can check the details either by the event name, the date, or the members name.It works brilliantly and we have records going way back to 2005 (most priory records were lost when the site went through a forum upgrade back then)

I can't really say what my 'best' troop as been so far this year as there have been so many brilliant ones

but the most memorable as got to be the one that my granddaughter Meadow got to see me in armour for the first time.

She didn't know who I was until I started singing our favourite song (with the odd bit of static burst sneaking in) and she just screamed "GAN-DA!!" :D

Ahhh thats cute :) lol. Can't wait for my first troop

  3. Last weekend I had the pleasure of POC-ing my first event, a fundraiser at my son's school. Every year the Halloween Carnival is their biggest fundraiser, raising money to pay for staff, teachers, computer lab, campus maintenance, etc. And in L.A., this is a big deal; schools keep cutting funding; most schools can't even afford a libriarian any more. Parent participation is critical to school performance. And these little carnivals are way better than bake sales!

This one is a huge community event, with booths, a haunted house, racing go-karts, rock climbing wall, carnival rides, inflatables, blah blah. So this year I decided to host a Shoot-a-Trooper booth, which they called "Stormtrooper Blasters" due to the sensitivity of some parents around the word "shoot" and "guns" and so on.

A rather handsome team showed up.

Admittedly my darn thighs were acting up again. I swear I'm going to buy some very light weight FX thighs to replace these very heavy AP ones...

Everyone got in on the action... including a vengeful Sith Lord...

    As did Vader...

Full photo album (taken by Vader's wife, so a little biased toward that typically self-centered Anakin guy) here.

I'm still waiting to hear how much the carnival raised this year, usually around $25,000, 100% of which goes to the school. Our booth was extremely popular. We had some kids who came back 7-8 times, and some kids would stay for an hour...

If I could do anything differently next year, it would be to put the backdrop in the shooting booth, and not have a separate photo booth. Nobody seemed to care about the photos so much as their desire to blast the troopers. Dang little rebels.

If i am approved for the southern cali garrison i am down to go next year :)
