  1. Yeah, ditch the back panel, the clips you can make with 1 or 1.5mm aluminum strips and there will be no need for that back plate. There are a few how-tos based on making you own TD clips.

Cool thanks going to attempt it tomorrow see how they go.

  2. Yo. The back panel is to mount clips to. I ditched the black panel and put proper clips on it. I use that back TD plate to test paint now :)

Try rustoleum's "smoke gray" with a coat of rustoleum's plastic primer first. Maybe sanding with a 400 or higher grit first before priming to knock the gloss off the PVC.

ahh thanks man! was wondering what this was for lol! :). Appreciate it

  3. There should only be one TD panel, maybe he included one from ROTJ or something, I can't really make out the details of the second panel. Or maybe an extra one got dropped in...

Too clarify this is what the second one looks like post-16608-135222913154.jpg

Sorry I couldn't turn it around

  4. For the TD, you do have to paint it grey, but I am not sure the exact shade. If you search around for the TM builds, look for the Geaux Saints build thread, there are some pretty good pictures of the TD on there. You can get a general idea of the coloration. Do you have two TD panels, I see two in that picture.

    Just those 2 I'm I missing something?

  5. I got my big brown box from Rob about 1 week ago and ever since then I have just been staring at the box contemplating when I was even going to venture In and unwrap my amazing armor Rob did. Until tonight I took a dive Into the box and laid it all out to get a an idea of what I got myself Into. Luckily I had the forums and it got me excited seeing others building there armor. So starting over the weekand, lets build!!

  6. Hey... Do any of you have a trick for finding.... TIME TO BUILD YOUR SUIT!!!??? :) DANG!!!! I cannot free up any time to build my suit!!! IT IS MAKING ME CRAZY!!! :)

I am still collecting things so when I do get time I should have no excuses...

    Stay tuned... :)

I feel you! I got mine like 1 week ago and man I can't find time to even start! Just a question does your sides for the thermal detonator fit? Do we need to sand down the PVC? Well anyways good luck man! I am on the same boat shooting for centurion

  7. Don't be scared of the RT, it's probably fully trimmed from the get go, you will just have to do some final trims to fit, but you can get moving right away. Sometimes it's best to just dive in and look at everything, like Tony says. Open it, look at the pieces, hold them together, and just start to understand how they all come together.

Thanks guys! Yea just fully opened my armor up and started looking at everything. Looks like a beauty! ;). Now to get started haha

Bottom line. It's resin, which is brittle. It will almost surely break if dropped, handled wrong or just generally mishandled. Don't get me wrong, with epoxy as glue, a few coats of thick textured rustoleum and a clear coat it feels pretty solid. But as an example of the fragility, Gazmosis handed his off to a kid once and the minute he had it in his hands the kid broke the selector switch. I am very careful not to let anyone else hold it and I never have it holstered (just swings around too much, even my hyperfirm does, but why would you holster it anyway?). Overall though, for general trooping and just holding it for pics it should last forever.

If you want durability get a hyperfim from Lewis. Absolutely amazing looking and pretty much indestructible. When I got mine I must've dropped it a hundred times just because I liked the rubbery thud it made. Can't break those!

    Good luck!

Doopys on the bottom, hyperfirm on top, they're actually exactly the same size, the bottom one is just closer, optical illusion!

Loving the optical illusion :) and yes Hyperfirm is the best way to go. You can drop that off a 2 story building and it will just bounce back :) haha jk but it is very durable. Great looking gun too!

When you trim the armor piece from its original plate, there is usually a little curve to it. It curves inward a teeny bit (toward the inside of the armor). It is less than the flashing (what's left between the armor and the plate, usually rough-looking), and it simply gives the edge a more "finished" look, and in some cases a "thicker" look, than a straight-cut, hard edge.

This is a terrible example as it's a photo of my unfinished mistake, but you can see the inward curve at the edge of the forearm piece, particularly in the horseshoe area. (ignore my red circle)

Its hard to depict but I think I got it! :) thanks Ingrid
