  1. Since the yellowing is a chemical reaction in the top layers of the base material, I do not think you will need to sand it down, but it depends on the material used. AM is ABS iirc, so you should be fine with painting it straight over. Since I haven't that much experience with ABS/plastics, has anybody done this before?
  2. Paint it with a shiny white gloss, all of the parts.
  3. Here you go: -----------
  4. You can also use balcony sealing (called coetrans/coelan), which is shiny and will not crack but follow the movement and can even take some rough handling. It is often used in LARP for sealing weapons and shields, where it is applied on a layer of paintmixed latex. I recommend to apply the sealing, any sealing that is, with a brush rather than a sponge. Gets you much more accurate results. Still even the painted latex may yellow throughout some time.
  5. ABS would of course be the best solution, but then female troopers would have to be unhealthy skinny to recreate the Gistang look. From the statues and pics the armour follows the waistline and the lines of the sides to the extreme. Therefore I thought of the abplate as a kind of corsage/corselett to create the desired effect, which is not possible with non bending ABS. I think that using ABS would reduce the possible number of female troopers out there able to wear that thing to a very tiny fraction. And I have to agree to Vern, with a glossy sealing the latex could work optically adapt to the rest of the armour. Only problem is that latex tends to yellowing especially when painted white.
  6. Hey Mark, the armour suits you well! ( Und man sieht dir dein Gewicht nicht im mindesten an!) Since I'm of similar built 5'10'' with 210lbs maybe the AM kit would fit me best, too.
  7. Is that a satin mat finish? It looks very realistic now! Congrats to this fine piece of work! Since the Hasbro blaster is not that easily available here in Germany I got one on eBay and am looking forward to mod it right. (Got me a Doops full resin kit anyway before, but still had to bet on the hasbro... )
  8. Maybe it would be necessary to do the abplate in latex, then it would follow the body shape of the wearer. This could be a solution for slim Fem-Troopers to get the Gistang look. A problem could be to get the paintjob right, so it matches with the ABS of the chest piece.
  9. I own the MRCE helmet and simply love the symmetry about it. I also like the narrow 'cheekbones'. Of course I started with some modding by drilling the outer paint indicated teeth and file them to a rectangular form. I also trimmed down the casting flash on the lower face part and repainted it. Also painted the rim of the Hovi aerators to look more accurate. Now I'm looking for new lenses flat or bubble and will certainly do something about the ears. I alreadey wrote TK-9135 about lenses, but haven't got a reply yet. Are there other sources with MRCE specific lenses out there? Current state of my MRCE The drilled and filed teeth
