  1. Hi all, I took Bobojuice's advice and grabbed a Top and Bottom Eastbay Compression suit. They have it on sale now top and bottom for $29.99 (!) Anyways, first impressions and some thoughts to other TKs that might be wondering what suit to get.

    How does it feel?

    • Feels REALLY great on your skin. I mean a little breeze and you feel cool. Not sure how the material does it but it really does cool your down quite a bit.
    • I'm sure it takes getting used to because I felt rather naked in it to be honest.
    • I could wear this all day - it's not itchy like some other sportswear.

    Colours

    • The black is VERY black - it doesn't show in this picture but it is not grey, or dark grey, it's plain black which is great. I'm sure after a few washes it will fade but for now it is a very good colour for what TK's need it for.

    Location of logos

    • I don't have my AP armour done yet but from what I can tell the logos are #1 easily coloured black with not a lot of effort, and #2 are in really great locations where the armour would cover them anyways.

    Sizing

    • I'm 5'10 and 160lbs - would consider myself athletic build. I went with Medium for both top and bottom and they fit VERY well.

    Conclusion

    • I am very happy I did not shell out over $100 for UA comparable wear because this is really great stuff and to pay more than double for almost the same thing? I'm not sure about that - I was very much into UA prior to this purchase. I'm converted.

Thanks for the detailed review-- having more info makes it easier to make a good decision. $29.99 for both top and bottom is incredible! My UA pants are getting a bit worn and I've been thinking about replacing them in the near future. It sounds like East Bay is a great way to go.

  2. I am using a hard hat liner right now but may try to modify the foam that came with my armor sometime in future so it will fit. I am sure it will be more comfortable, but with school starting in one week I just wanted to get my armor done before I went back to teaching, so that meant not spending time on the foam lining for now.

  3. I enjoyed The New Jedi Order series. There are 19 books in that one. Primarily focuses on the jedi and their kids. I also Liked Legacy of the Force, 9 books in that one. Fate of the Jedi was the last series I read, I believe there are 6 or 7 books in that series. Also Liked the Darth Bane Books, only 3 of them. One set I would really recommend would be the Republic Commando Series. There are 4 books in that one I believe. Really enjoyed that one, probably because it focused on the clones.

    That's my 2 cents.

I also liked the NJO series, although I thought it dragged on too long. I loved the Legacy series-- totally awesome! The scene where Luke pins Jacen down in his chair in his SD is awesome, and the duels between Jacen and Mara and Jacen and Jaina are great.

The Fate series was decent. Some books were better than others.

  4. * aside: on MEPD one person - I think it was Brak's Buddy - used to have a signature that read something (this is from memory) like:

    - You are not your post count

    - You are not your TE armor

    - You are not your hyperfirm blaster

What he was trying to say was that we really are equals in the hobby and status is gained by helping others, not by having the most accurate kit or posting a lot. A great way for helping keep egos in check smile.png

    That's a great quote-- I couldn't agree more!

  5. It'll hold up just fine. What do you expect yto be doing in your armour really? You're not supposed to play rugby in it. If E-6000 is strong enough to hold the rest of your amour together, it can hold a piece that receives little to no stress at all. And if not, it was more likely poorly glued on rather than a fault with the glue itself.

Good point about it getting no stress. My gluing skills better be up to par!

  6. I bought several packs of the longer Line 24 snaps from tandy leather for going through thicker materials like ABS, but I found it's also good to have some regular heavy duty ones which have a shorter stem and are good for going through elastic. If you try to use Line 24 through elastic, the long stems get in the way and seem to prevent you from getting a good "snap" closed.

  7. Seems most people do that, or a velcro there. Make sure if you go velcro you put the fuzzy side on the armor and the hook side on the belt, otherwise you will catch your undersuit on it all the time.

Ok, thanks! I think I will test it to see what happens, and if the belt sags I will try to give it some support.
