The corners on the belt, thats going to be a tough one. I'm pretty sure they are there to taper into the width of the cloth belt, but from your pictures it looks like the belt is almost the same width as the plastic belt, or was it just the angle?
No, you are correct that the plastic belt is just a bit bigger than the canvas one.

Yeah, I saw this too. It looks cool, but would look even better with a TB on it!

This hobby is all about wasting money, so don't let that stop you :-P
LOL- good point. My wife can get a bit annoyed by it though. "Another package arrived. What else did you buy?"

Sharp uniform and awesome post.
Becoming an officer is on my "to do" list.

we should share our passions in a gentle and informative way, perhaps even with a smile?
You bring up a great point, Vern. Since we communicate through technology, which doesn't allow us to see context clues in a person's face to help us understand what they are saying (and with what emotions), it is important to communicate a bit more carefully than we might in person. "Troopers helping troopers" is an unofficial (or official?) motto, and helping eachother in positive way is a very worthy goal that we should all strive for.

Nice job! I love the blaster, btw.

I also used white duct tape on my black mesh.

welcome....
and like they told me when i joined this nice place, its an armor not a suit hehe
Dont make the misstake by rush through it.
Making your armor will take time but when it comes to the end its totaly worth it.
I totally agree- dont try to rush through it. Take your time, have fun during the process, and then once it's done you'll be glad you spent all the time on it!

Measuring yourself is easy!
I love these tape measures-- super easy to use. With a tape measure like this, having a friend help you should be just fine. Just make sure to measure everything twice!
-
Just glue the back first, the coverstrip to the top then to the bottom and then the front bit and youll be fine.
Make three single glue- dry steps out of it and it works.
E6000 can cope with the tension.
I build my pieces front to back. I find it easier to measure the size that way to get a good fit. But whichever method you use, E-6000 can cope.
Thanks guys! I used E6000 previously, so I am going to try gently detaching the back side from the current cover strip, trimming it, then re-gluing it.
I am also going to look at tapering the biceps. I think I need to leave the lower opening the current size so it will fit around my elbow when I put it on, but I might be able to trim some from the top to tighten the whole thing up a bit.
-
Congrats on getting your armor. I just completed my build a few days ago and am now a proud EIB recipient.
Best of luck with your build!

I agree on the biceps and forearms. Way too big for you. Remember to trim them in the back, where there is no raised edge.
With that said, I think this is an easy approval. Good job trooper.
I'm excited to be approved! Thanks.
I have a question about the trimming:
The ATA forearms have flat ridges on both the front and back pieces. Are you suggesting that I trim more (or even all) of the ridge off the back piece to help it fit better? I was trying to avoid trimming all the ridges away in order to have a flat area to glue my cover strip to. Will the cover strip glue to the curved surface ok?
I seem to recall that the biceps are a tight fit around my elbow joint when I put them on, so I don't know if I'll be able to trim them any further. I'll look into that.
Thanks again for everyone's feedback!

Looking good Keith, makes me wish I was 145lb
LOL- thanks Nick... although it does make for a lot of trimming!!!
-
you re welcome.
i am always the guy who has something to complain and you will get a piece of it aswell hehe.
overall a nice build, BUT
since you seem to be a skinny guy like me you should defenetly make your biceps and forearms alot smaller so they fit your proportions, they are way to wide and dont fit in the overall appearance in my opinion.
the thights could loose some material aswell.
you have left a good ammount of returnedge on bizeps and forearms aswell, in my opinion you should reduce it a bit aswell as cutting the coverstrip of the left bizeps a bit.
just my 2ct
feel free to decide its your armor.
regards Dr.
edit on---
since i am on it the thight ammo belt needs some love aswell it looks quiet odd to me
edit off---
I appreciate the feedback. I am a pretty skinny guy so the forearms especially ended up being larger than I'd prefer. With all my trimming I tried to leave at least a little bit of the original raised lip in order to have a nice flat surface to glue my cover strips to.
I'll take a look at the return edges, and I see what you mean about the left bicep coverstrip. I can cut that a bit closer.
For the ammo belt, I will see how it looks if I let it tilt down a little bit. That might help it look more natural, especially on the outer edge.
Thanks again!

Wake up?
; )
Nice build.
Thanks Sven!
Hopefully I'll join you in the Centurion ranks soon.
-
Looking good! Easy pass imho.
Thanks Keith! Great name, btw.
...Just waiting for our TK brothers in Europe to wake up.

Blaster looks great too!
I agree. Vern did a tremendous job.
-
That's what I like to see! Good work and Great attitude Trooper!
Thanks Tyler. I am a teacher so I am used to getting feedback and making adjustments. It's really nice though when the feedback is given in a positive way. That's something I really like about the Legion-- for the most part people just try to help each other out and stay positive.
-
Looks good... and you're on the right path to Centurian. Cool!
-
Looks great for your EIB!! Good Luck Trooper!!
It would be a good idea the post a pic of the other side of your Blaster.
Don't forget, for Centurion, if you want that, the corners of the belt need to be trimed at a 45 degree angle.
Thanks for the feedback!
Here's the other side of my blaster...
-
D'oh!
I thought that was an EIB requirement. I am always getting them mixed up. Well I still reccomend it. It only takes 5 seconds!
I totally agree. I'll do it tomorrow!
-
Lookin good Keith!!
Thanks Joey!
Joey is a great example of troopers helping troopers. He gave me a ton of advice during this build, which was extremely helpful.

you need to line everything up properly before you do anything.
Excellent point Vern.
And then since I am nervous about everything that has to do with my armor, I check again to make sure it really is lined up correctly and hope I'm not missing some glaring mistake.
I won't trim anymore! I will use the foam becuase that just seems more logical to me. Can you guys help me out with the alignment with the back and kidney plate? What do I need to do about that gap? Also, is this statement correct: "No matter what size, I will always glue the first 5 ribs on my shoulder strap to my chest plate and always cut the large tab on the back."
I think I ended up gluing 3 ribs plus the large tab of my ATA armor. If I glued more than that I would have had to severely crease the tab over the ridge/bend in the armor.
Are you expecting your back and kidney to line up perfectly with no gap? Based on the pics I've seen of other troopers, plus the reference pics I've checked from the movie, there is probably going to be a little black showing between those two pieces. The CRL says they should be flush, but I don't think they are expecting perfection.
