  1. There was a thread a few weeks ago where we talked about skinny guys having problems with the ab. Here's the link: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20357&hl=&fromsearch=1

I personally ended up trimming a little from the sides of the ab, which I read about in the Ab tutorial: ----------- I waited to trim until after my back, kidney and butt were all connected, as well as the chest and ab, so that I could see exactly where everything was lining up. I trimmed a little at a time to make sure I didn't go too far. I had someone helping me by drawing the cut lines while I wore the armor to make sure that the lines were in the correct spot.

As you can see in the thread, other people suggested using padding in order to avoid messing up the way the armor looks. You may want to start with this step, since it's not as permanent as cutting.

  2. Hello all troopers! Glad to be here! I received my AP armor and helmet this week and have been collecting all the odds and ends needed to complete the build. I have already met some great people from my local garrison and even went to an armor party to do some research! I welcome any suggestions troopers from FISD may have to help me along in my build. I ultimately want to be as close as I can be to ANH stormtrooper so I want to use that as my goal and not cut corners.

Of course, I cannot wait to be in my first parade or visit a children's hospital! And while I cannot make SW Celebration VI this year, I am definitely going next time around!

My cousin has been a member a lot longer than I have, and he says that visiting hospitals is the best type of trooping event.

If you are looking for accuracy, make sure you look at the Expert Infantry and Centurian TK requirements. That's what I did on my most recent build and I am happy with the increased accuracy.

  3. I want to thank Ingrid for sharing info about removing yellow from the armor. Any suggestions for buffing- what to use/how to use it? Recently I tried using my dremel and it took a chunck out of my cover strip.

"Take that yellow off by gently wet-sanding your yellowed parts until they get to the desired whiteness and then buff and polish." I dont have that problem yet but I know it will drive me nuts if/when it comes up.

  4. Welcome, Michael!

The first place you'll want to go is here: http://www.whitearmo...showtopic=11538

Then read the rest of the stickies in the Getting Started section.

When you decide what movie style you want your armor to emulate, go look at some of the build threads in that section (lower in the forums) and review the CRLs for it.

Most importantly, go register on your garrison boards and that's where you'll meet some more of your local folks to help you out. Otherwise, all the help you need is right here in FISD! :)

I found that link extremely helpful because it gives a lot of information about each type of armor.

I also agree that meeting people in your garrison is great because they can provide a lot of support. I got a ton of help on my recent build from a Centurian-level garrison member. :)

  5. Padding the left shin in the back sounds like a good idea. It doesn't look like you have much room to raise the left thigh to give your knee plate more room.

I was curious how tall you are? One of my biggest fitting challenges was getting the black straps to stay over the bicep when I move my arms around, and I think part of the problem is that I have kinda long arms so my biceps are pretty low so that they stay close to the forearm.
