  1. WTB : complete left thigh (both inner and outer) Ideally, I'd like to find either an AM or possibly FX left thigh as that is what I have ... I am however open to anything as long as I am able to match to my armor. I've already emailed the AM folks, but I've yet to hear back. Can anyone help this future trooper!?
  2. I have a quick ab button question ... I'm just about done building my armor. I had bought ab buttons while waiting on my armor and was told they were accurately colored. A few of the guys from my local garrison were over this weekend to help with the build and questiond the color of my buttons...more specifically the blue ones. My buttons are the midnight blue mentioned at the beginning of this thread, but anymore you typically see the french blue. Are both blues accepted by 501st standards???
  3. Yeah Ray, that's what I was thinking. I was hoping someone could tell me how to get one of these calendars presently ... until I am able to submit and get my ID...
  4. Can anyone help me out here??? I'd really like a 2012 FISD calendar if any are still available. Unfortunately I am unable to access the link ... Suggestions...!?!
  5. Thanks so much guys for the words of encouragement. I only hope when it's all said and done I can make you all proud!!
  6. I'd be very interested in a 2012 FISD calendar, ... Are there any left???
  7. Hello again everyone, as my anticipation builds, the time is drawing near! Weather permitting, I'm planning an armor party for this coming weekend. If all goes well, I'll be able to submit for approval and with any luck make some of the upcoming 3D release troops. In the mean time, I have been working on my ATA helmet ... I received my ATA helmet kit a couple of weeks ago...It looks amazing, I can't wait to get started.. With the holidays and all the project had to wait a bit. Things have finally quieted down, so here we go! Initial trimming on all pieces done ... Hope I didn't cut too much!? I found a lot of ATA build threads...but I really like PandaTrooper's ATA #1 build thread. Following as closely as I can in his footsteps, here I am with the initial assembly of the front and rear done. You'll also notice that I received my Dave M. decals from Trooperbay!! I'm pretty pleased with my progress so far, ... slow as it's been. Now its's time to fit the ears and I'm freakin out more than just a little. Wish me luck, ... here we go! Well, given my complete lack of experience, I'm very pleased with things thus far.
  8. Hey Manuel ... Like everyone has already said, once you start securing things more permanently, much of your gap should disappear. I'm in the process of finishing up an ATA helmet build as we speak (pics will be posted soon!!). As to your ear issue, there are indeed 2 sets included with the kit....and there are 2 distinct rights and 2 distinct lefts. If you look closely at the lower portions that cover the cheek tube area you should see 2 different, however subtle, swoops (for lack of a better term). I freaked out a little bit when I got to the ears...that is until I noticed the subtle difference between R and L. It's really hard to describe, check back later today if you are still struggling and I should have some pics up... Good luck!!!
  9. Hey Steve,... long time no read .... Anyway, I am most definitely enjoying myself. I think I have a few of my local garrison members on board for an armor party whenever our schedules mesh ...Hopefully towards the end of this month ... weather permitting of course!
  10. Well gang ... I had a chance to check out Daetrin's thread on making FX armor EIB doable ... I was pleasantly surprised! Prior to getting my armor, I had already bought accurate ab buttons, and a canvas belt. I also intend to separate my butt plate from the kidney section and now I know where specifically to make the cut. And lastly ( I think ) there's the holster issue. I intend to go ANH TK so I knew the holster needed to be riveted... I'm thinking I'll be EIB eligible right out of the gate ... How cool is that!!?
  11. Julie, I'll just say, as I'm sure many have already... You look amazing no matter what costume you're wearing, and Sue Storm is certainly no exception.....Loved the photo shopping on the boots as well!!!
  12. I want to thank everyone so much .... Whether FISD or my local garrison, everyone has been so helpful! There are a few guys from my local garrison who have already told me that once I have my TK supplies in hand an armor party would have me ready for submission in an afternoon...Heck, I think some of them are more excited than I am! Definitely looking forward to joining the ranks of the coolest, most selfless Star Wars fans out there! And to Darth Aloha, I'm not exactly camera friendly, but I'll do my best to document my progress for all to see.... I'm anxious to check out Daetrin's thread on making my FX kit EIB doable ... I thought I had read it wasn't possible...
  13. As you can see, I've finally received my 2 boxes of white plastic... The armor is FX (not ideal I know) and the bucket is ATA (Awesome!!!) I had hoped to start with somewhat better armor, but when we found out we were expecting I knew I had to go with what I could afford at the time. Not to mention the fact that I am super stoked to get out and troop with you guys, and here in a few months there won't be any discretionary income for a while!! I hope to start on my helmet sometime this week, but I am terrified to even touch the armor without some serious guidance or actual help. My build is not going to make sizing easy either. My armor came with a decent assortment of strapping, unfortunately with velcro fastening. I definitely want to go with snaps. Without combing thru 100's of threads, what will I need to gather for the armor build??? I don't foresee being ready for any of the 3D release troops (BUMMER!!) but with your help I'd like to be up and running by March sometime ... Who will help a trooper out!?
  14. Likewise on all counts ... Here's to a very Merry Christmas for one and all !!! And ... some very serious kudos to the staff here for all you do!! Now, in the spirit of the season, and quoting the long forgotten Star Wars Christmas song ... "What can you get a wookie for Christmas (When he already owns a comb)?"
  15. Hey Steve, ... while the folks here would know much better than I ... I'd have to agree that everythings looking good! I'm curious however, AM (formerly FX, right??) armor and helmets tend to run on the bigger side ... Is that an AM helmet you have as it looks very proportional and not big at all??? Just curious...
  16. Mornin James, I don't know about RT-mod specifically, but if you type helmet comparison in the search bar there is one thread in particular that shows 3 different types of helmets side by side. The FX helmet looks freakishly large next to the other 2 ... I'm thinking that RT-mod might be the middle helmet in the pic, but not sure. In any case, RT-mod is still slightly larger than movie accurate, but nowhere near as big as FX! Hope this helps, have a great day... Matt *** Hey again James ... just looked at that thread again myself ...you'll actually want to search for helmet comparisons ...plural ... but may be a moot point ... comparison is between FX / TM / APA
  17. Steve, awesome job throwing that together on such short notice!! I imagine that will be a huge help for new up and comers such as me. I'm shooting for a basic TK to get my foot in the door, but I think ultimately I'll end up going HWT and I'm kind of partial to the T-21. Thanks once again for what I'm sure is to become an invaluable visual aid for all!!!
  18. I've got a quick question gang ... Is there any one place where pics of the different trooper types can be seen?? I'm not talking like stormtrooper vs biker scout pics ... more like pics of stormtroopers, sandtroopers, incinerator troopers, sky troopers, etc. all in one place. I'm preparing for my first build, and it would be so much easier if you could go to one particular thread or site to see what all your options might be... Just a thought...
  19. Hey Steve, it's been a while! Preparing for baby has eaten up a lot of my time, plus I'm finally active on the local garrison's boards and have spent a lot of time there. In any case, my buddy got me an amazing deal on this FX armor ...RT-mod still slightly out of my price range ... I am however trying to sell the helmet kit coming with the armor, and potentially the other FX helmet kit I had already picked up. I'd really like a MTK bucket ... Anyway, thanks for the heads up and have a great day!!! Matt
  20. Good to hear John,.... at 6'1" and 230 lbs I'm guessing I'll fall into the bigger trooper category....
  21. What's up everyone!? Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving! Anyway, I have a question ... I'm sure it's been asked before, and I'm sure the answer probably lies within the labrynth of FISD armor threads, but none the less ... I think I've read that what is now referred to as AM armor was once FX?? Just curious at this point if they remain one in the same or if the FX is still being produced by different people???
  22. Seasons greetings, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! First off, I just received my initial order from Trooperbay ... part of that order was TK gloves and accompanying rubber hand armor. Can anyone recommend a good method to attach the hand armor to the gloves (I've already tried E6000 w/ no luck). Secondly, and more importantly, I've ordered my first set of armor! For months now, a buddy of mine has had a very cool set of TK armor displayed in his home. He's not 501st or an FISD member, just a very serious collector. I offered to buy the armor to no avail. My buddy did however offer to make a few calls and see if he could get me a set. Long story short, my armor is on its way and should be here by mid to late December. From what I've seen on build threads here, I believe the armor is AM. Perhaps not ideal, but the details are in the build right!?! Anyway, if all goes well, and preparing for baby doesn't get out of hand, I just might be trooping come spring 2012!!!
  23. Nice looking build so far Mike, but I'm in agreement with everyone else ... E-11 all the way. I was wondering though ... I've started my own scratch build E-11 ...Really taking my time since I don't even have armor yet. I've seen several of these decommissioned Sterling projects. Where does one find these decommissioned Sterlings?
  24. Thanks for the input Lucas ... I actually signed out and back in just a moment ago and it actually took my username!!
  25. I guess what I was getting at Dennis is that I'm working on my 1st 501st approved helmet. I know they are the least accurate of the lot, but if it can meet 501st standards even minimally it cant be all bad...
