  1. Visit this site for at least an hour a day everyday for a month or two before you buy anything. Just read all around here and you'll be fine. The 'getting started' section is a good place to... get started.
  2. I don't know how to take a screen shot, but it would be cool to learn! Also, this problem is not only with 'my content' but also with the search bar on the home screen. There are times when I can types some thing like 'ATA' or 'return edge' or anything and it will tell me there's nothing matching my query.
  3. Any advice on these edges where the kidney and ab meet and my proposed ammo pack placement? Wanna go canturion right off the bat!
  4. I am concerned about these images. The kidney is supposed to be flush with the butt plate, isn't it? Looking at reference images, it looks like there is a 'notch' in the bottom that the ATA molds don't have. I have seen some add this, but it is unnecessary, I feel, since it's hidden by the belt. I want to put in the side split rivets, but I wanna make double sure everything is right before I drill holes. I am having the hardest time fitting the thigh ammo pack. Is there a trick to it? I can't get it to sit right. I've heard of other kits having one side be longer than the other, but my ATA thigh pack is equally long on both sides. I have put this piece of tape on to illustrate where I think the top edge of the pack should sit. Does it look correct? How's the bend on the pack? Also, I wish there was a pic of that original thigh from the sides, top and bottom. The front and back views help, but I wish I could see one from the top and bottom to get an idea of how tight it should be against the leg. If there is a gap or not, things like that. Is there a pic I'm missing somewhere? Edit: here's the ref image: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/image/836-stormtrooperbodyarmourcomparisons06jpg/
  5. Lol that last post was a bit ambitious, but I am slowly getting there. I apologize for cluttering the boards with questions. I will post all current and future questions here in my build thread to keep it tidy. Look forward to me posting here with my concerns. Here goes progress pics! Bells got the straps: Some feedback on my sniper plate? Took weeks to finally stay put How is the roundness of my crotch? Hahah How's the return edge on these?
  6. still having issues with this...
  7. You guys think the tooth in the picture is salvageable?
  8. Nice! I didn't think of that. The sandpaper was fairly cheap but the plastic polish is a little spendy. I wonder where I can find it the cheapest... any ideas? EDIT: nevermind. I went ahead and got it from ebay. Jeez if I ever sell this suit after I'm finished, it will be sold for no less than 2000 dollars!
  9. Aaaaaand sandpaper has been ordered. Grrrr you will not defeat me damned helmet!! lol
  10. Well, all right. How would I go about finding that? Ebay? What would I search for?
  11. Well, as some of you may know, I've been trying really hard to do this ATA hero mod on my faceplate. Well, I was able to get the fourth bump out, but hte problem is I got it way out and now it's a circular hump sticking out. It's driving me mad! I have no choice but to do the progressive grades of sandpaper and gently sand that area smooth again. I hope. Is anyone out there willing to sell me just a little of their fancy sandpapers? I don't need a whole package, and I don't know where I would find those. Any help is appreciated... ugh this stupid helmet is really upsetting me Here it is, I'm really frustrated by the whole thing. I might even sell it and some other stuff to try to replace it if it can't be fixed. The helmet is riveted together, so I couldn't get the iron into it very well and could only touch the back of the bump with the tip of it
  12. Well, like Glen said, I can't afford it and not to mention the colors would be off. Whoa brutal honesty, I can take it lol So, in your personal opinion is this ruined or salvageable?
  13. Okay, I'm gonna try doing a little more. Good tip using max heat, I only hat it up to about 3 out of 5. Back to the ironing board!
  14. Haha thanks for that. I found it and I knew I had to have it. I know this is a bit rough, but, eh. Any more melting and tweaking and it would have been toast.
  15. No respone, huh? Ok, well I painted it anyway. This is coat 1 of 2. The second pass will make it look nicer.
  16. Wow, this is getting really annoying. I can click on my content and get into it over and over and once it decided there's nothing to show. I can refresh, leave the page and come back, and log out and in again with no change. What is happening?
  17. All right, no responses for hours so I went ahead and did it. I hope this is passable. It is only the first coat of grey Thanks for the... views?
  18. This is the best I could do without melting the whole thing. It's already riveted together so I couldn't take it apart. Will it fly after paint? EDIT: that ridge on the right is extra apparent becuase it has pencil in it. It doesn't look that bad
  19. My content is disappearing randomly and no matter how much I refresh it say 'no content to show'
  20. Ok, here goes nothin! I'm gonna heat that thing up and use it. What temp does it need to be?
  21. Well, as far as the grappling hook, that was only seen on one hero, Luke. I think they did it for plot convenience so they could have the dramatic tarzan swing scene showing Luke saving the damsel in distress. It would be funny if they all had them and the troopers descended into places like SWAT ninjas, haha. Ok, well, you all must understand my concern with this; we're talking about using a tool I've never used before on the FACE of my suit. If I mess it up, I'll have to order a new faceplate and I'm really strapped for cash. I already have the hobby iron (bought at the beginning of build) but I don't have all that fancy sandpaper. I only have 100-200 grit. What should I do? Are there many threads showing people modding their ATA teeth? Glen, I've seen yours, has anyone else done this? I've tried the search function with no results
  22. Ah, I see how that could be confusing. I mean the teeth! EDIT:As mentioned elsewhere the "hero" look is quite different from the "Stunt" with a lowered frown, bubble lenses and three sets of teeth either side of the frown. In addition, the Hero only has one screw on the central ear section, not two.
  23. Just read this page. "This is most probably due to the damage to the ear moulds caused by over 50 sets of ears being vac formed from the moulds used. Remember the Hero helmets were made some weeks after the Stunt helmets." http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-ANH-hero-Stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm As for my inquiry... Could I pass EIB/Centurion with these extra teeth?
  24. K, I"ve sharpened up the lines on all the black, especially the ears. They look really good. I'm really considering leaving the fourth tooth the way it is
