Hi, Kevin, I pushed this up to staff level so we can discuss. Sounds fine to me but I'm not the only decision maker

They are with us, just not in mortal form.
They speak to us, just not in audible words.
They live on in us and through us.
They are free of all pain, illness, age, fear, and sadness.
They are strengthening our hearts so we can live, enjoy, and appreciate what we have all the more while we are here to enjoy life.
The last thing they want is to see us sad, to see us squander life's joys.
Grieve - it's important. Then Live. It's even more important.
Do all the things that they were afraid to do but wanted to do, the things they admired but felt they couldn't do themselves.

HA! SLO is like half way between the heart of SCG and GGG... A.G. is kind of in limbo up there.
A.G., if you can make the drive to Ventura on the 14th, PM me. We'll get our hands on you yet!
Also, if you haven't already, start a build thread here http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/31-costuming-and-builds-501st/ and post all your photos. I think there is some foreshortening from the camera being so close to your upper body that isn't helping your self-image Try a tripod or set the camera closer to your belt-level and have the little guy push the button from there.

Hi, Devin, thanks for serving and welcome to the Empire!
Question 1: PVC is very shiny, and ABS is very white also, not sure where the "off white" comes from. Trust me, it's all blinding white until years down the road when it starts to yellow. Don't stress it regarding the boots, they should be lightly scuffed anyway.
Question 2: RS armor will fit you just fine at your height and build. You get the kit, then you trim it to fit your unique body. So any armor will fit you if you build it right. RS Props will be awesome on you.
Qusetion 3: Once you get the hang of cutting and handling your plastic, the lid is actually not that difficult. I was saving mine to the end but then I jumped onto it about half way through and it was the most fun. I have built two since.
I'm glad you're doing a lot of diligent research and asking smart questions, but don't over-think it! Trust yourself! You're a Marine!!! You can do anything!!!

Welcome to FISD, Dave! You'll also want to join up with your local garrison, which I believe is the Canadian Garrison, and you are in good hands with them!
-
The build doc at the bottom of my signature is all about the overwhelming-ness, the anxiety of first cut, and all that. I'm not sure how helpful it is as a guide as much as a sanity check. Don't throw up!
Best wishes, and start a build thread in the section you're building for (ANH Stunt, for ex.)

When i first built my armor I looked for any and every excuse to wear it. I'm a little less inclined nowadays, but I do miss it when the stretch between troops is too long. (Like more than 2 weeks)
P.S. I can sit, but leaning back is scary because I don't want to break the back plate.

Thanks, Andy! Happy Turkeys to you too!
Wait, no turkey is happy on Thanksgiving.
-
I have no idea what it comes from (auto/home) and I couldn't find it at my local hardware store or Pep Boys so I bought mine at Trooperbay...
-
Welcome, John!!

Welcome, neighbor! Wow, sometimes i miss a thread, and this time I missed a whammy
As Troy said, sign up on the forums and introduce yourself at the southerncaliforniagarrison.com/forums site and we'll all soon be besties. -
Welcome to FISD, Chris!
-
Welcome to FISD, Peter! Between Edmonton and Calgary there are plenty of troopers who will be able to help you salvage your armor into something approvable, if not better Good luck!

Welcome, Barry

Hi and welcome, Luis! Peru! So cool!

Hi, Jay! SDS is not the end of the world. Look for a good build thread to help you through the modification process... NZ has an outpost I think, right? Or is it a garrison? In any case, hook up with them and get to know some of your "local" fellows for additional help.

Hi, again! Lodi isn't tooooo far from Chico if you want to hit up Vern, he loves to help. Just get yourself on the CCC boards and I'm sure there are a ton of folks to help you out

That's great art. Funny I was also thinking "KEEEVVVIINNNN"

I think these would be acceptable for basic and EI. Good thing we have lots of boot painting tutorials
I don't think I paid $49. for my TK Boots tho...
For 501st approval:- White leather or leather-like, above ankle height, with a flat sole with a short heel, and small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle with no buckles or laces. Jodhpur/Chelsea-type boots or an equivalent style is acceptable. Elvis or Mariachi boots are not allowed.
- There shall be no seam on the front of the boot (e.g. CABoots are not allowed).
-
Pretty much any will work, but watch out for seams that are not black. Those groin seams might be visible on the outer edges of your cod piece, so you'd want to sharpie them black or something.
The main thing is that no visible seams show and that they fit you well... brand, etc. not an issue. East Bay sometimes has awesome sales, too... grab an extra pair when that comes up!

Troopers Helping Troopers, that's what we're all about here!
I hope some day you'll want to step up and give back too.
