  1. I hear ya! As far as those "Mike" tips... they should be fine and that's what I have for now too. Just use a toothpick or something to pull the mesh out and paint the indented portion white. Add a spot of glue and put the mesh back in.
  2. Your TFA TK build is getting lonely.
  3. I think you should add the shims in as you can always trim them down as you continue to cut weight.
  4. Better print that sucker out and have it framed! You deserve it! And I still think this thread deserves a sticky.
  5. They are apparent on the Hero costume. There's a screen still of Han Solo where it is very clear. Just like how a lot of people do snaps instead of the traditional strapping method, do what works for you the best.
  6. Unless you're trying to do a particular sandtrooper, I'd recommend you cutting off more material on the eyes.
  7. When you put the ABS paste to join the shims, make sure you use a paint brush and really push it in those gaps. Build up layers and try to get it smooth as possible. ABS paste will get tacky very quickly so you'll need to work fast. Let it dry for a day or two and sand it down flush with 100 grit then follow up with some 1000 grit wet sand paper to smooth it back up. Don't worry about cutting out the notches until you've sized it and trimmed the shim down if necessary. I gotta throw up some updated pictures of mine. Realized I made my shim a lot wider than I needed and had to trim down a lot and had to redo the notches. Once you have the kidney flush with the ab plate, do the notches and holes for the split rivets.
  8. the sniper plate needs a bit return to give it depth. Check out a few build tutorials of that particular section and it'll make sense.
  9. For any other beginners reading this, one of the first steps after laying out all your plastic is to label which side is which. Another great explanation on figuring out the shins is trooperbay's video located HERE
  10. Every time I see WTF I smile. Good luck with your build and remember to measure twice and cut once.
  11. Trooper Dad is a term of endearment! I've been called a lot worse too. It was strange feeling entering the civilian job force and not being yelled and cursed at after 9 years in the Army. I told the guys I work with that they had it easy
  12. Well if you look back through some threads and you're into drama, you'll see why it's not on the list but that's this or that. We know how good Mike's kits are and there are several Centurion level TKs and SWAT level TDs. Doesn't hurt he also runs trooperbay so if you need extra plastic, you know it's going to match. If you plan on going full electronics in your bucket, Trooper Dad aka Tony has a very sweet setup on YouTube. I plan on going that route eventually. I'm working on the ab/kidney strapping now just haven't taken new pictures and haven't had as much free time since my son is visiting.
  13. Should be fine for basic approval. I ordered mine off amazon.
  14. You might want to taper the return edge towards the end of the bottom of the kidney plate and the top of the butt portion.
  15. Thanks, Trooper Dad!
  16. I've complemented you and thanked you a ton of times. From now on, maybe all us 30 and under will just call you Trooper Dad.
  17. I see on the ebay links that they do ship to the US. Maybe they updated them? Sorry for all the questions but can you verify the sizes since they list multiple options, just rather get it right the first time
  18. I get what you're saying about how it says Tandy on it. I just put mine in the other day and I'm not too worried about it for now. If my GML says anything I can do like you did.
  19. Still old enough to be my dad! You two enjoy! Brandon, you'll probably beat me but we need to get our MTKs completed! There's not enough of us
  20. Those first two are the same link. Is that correct?
  21. And the father of the year award goes to Bill! Before you know it, you'll be helping him build the real deal.
  22. So once you get approved you just resubmit the same pics for Centurion
  23. Can't see them, it's set to private
  24. Add that notch out the rear bottom of the thigh. They looks like the right height.
