  1. I hope to see this new trooper suited up when it's complete.
  2. Looking good, Russell! I am noticing my elastic not holding up and am looking at correcting it. I'll be checking for your update!
  3. What a speedy build! Congratulations and your GML is super fast!
  4. It's all good man! I have Irish twins, 18 month old, 6 month old. Also have a 6 year old step-daughter and my 10 year old son was here for 3 weeks for the summer. I didn't get anything done so I know how that goes. I was curious if you figured out your thigh issue. Congratulations on finishing graduate school!
  5. You can try sliding in your exacto blade in there to separate it on just that section and re-glue it.
  6. Simon, remember once you put the screws in it will pull it closer to the tube and bucket so don't make any more changes to the ear until you see what it looks like mounted. You're on the right track!
  7. I've been making snaps lately too. By the time I get home from work, eat, and play with the kids some, it's almost 8pm or just past. My neighbors are not a fan of me banging a hammer on my back porch now.
  8. Didn't even think about checking ACE. There's one 10 minutes away from me!
  9. Ok, understood. I think it works good for Eric as the back forms around his body much better this way.
  10. I was just trying to source some locally because I'm impatient lol.
  11. I have the rougher stuff and it's 1" wide as well. It's the only kind I could find at my local fabric store.
  12. I think you're fine since you said there's no vertical play. Just test a few out by snapping and unsnapping a few times. I apply an ample amount of E6000 when I glue the webbing down.
  13. You're doing a great job so far. As far as if the snaps should spin or not, mine don't. I'm using Tandy Line 24 and maybe I'm beating the crap out of mine using the anvil set but mine don't budge.
  14. Hopefully Tony can give the official word, but is the chest suppose to ride that high up to the neck?
  15. Check out UKWraith's build thread. There are things listed for the belt and kidney/ab section that is a very reasonable price. If you haven't got the set tool for the snaps, get that as well. The little Dritz pliers are garbage.
  16. Finish the torso so you can put it on to accurately size the thighs
  17. Tony, I got around to ordering that stuff from Page 3. Ended up finding the cap rivets at Hobby Lobby though. You might want to include that info on Page 1 for anyone else looking into finding these supplies. On another note, I attempted to buy extra split rivets at Home Depot and Lowes. Both places looked like I was speaking Greek when I asked where I could find them.
  18. You're in the right place! You think you have all the supplies but there will be runs to the store for odds and ends. Congrats on joining the dark side and while you wait for your BBB, read some build threads like your life depends on it. If you haven't already, sign up for your local garrison's forums. Florida has a large, very active garrison so you'll be in good hands.
  19. I have since gone back and had to trim the width of the new joining piece but this is the gist of it. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/30727-look-sir-droids-mtk-build-wip/?p=411497
  20. I don't think MEPD has nifty looking patches or give out certifications so now I'm jealous for sure! I told my wife the other day that after TFA comes out I'd like to do the new Tie pilot and she gave me a look . I'm interested to see your modification. I put elastic for my left side between the split rivets
  21. RussellR2D2's thread shows a great method to get the butt from Rick Flairing out. For the kidney, it would have been easier to heat bend it before gluing it in place but since that ship has sailed, get a big bucket from home depot and put some boiling water in it and submerge one side at a time. Get the bend you need and cool it in cold water. Another suggestion to keep it together is making the split rivets functional by putting the elastic in between the rivets on the kidney and ab. It'll be permanently attached like a clam shell but it'll hold straight and flush if done right. On the right side you can use snaps but in the center make a slot system to keep it aligned. Once again, gotta recommend RussellR2D2's build thread for that suggestion. One last suggestion, don't know if you plan on it or not but I would put some ABS paste on the outside and inside seems of your kidney shim. It'll make it stronger and the outside will look like it wasn't shimmed at all if done correctly. I will take some pics of mine tonight to show you what I mean if that doesn't make sense.
  22. Glad we are able to help. I definitely learned a lot from Scott and a few other's builds on how to do the shim. Looking forward to your updates.
  23. I don't blame you! There are not cheap replacements or replacements at all if you mess up. Still, this thread and eventually your TFA will be the new Panda go-to build threads.
