  1. I just hope that once Anovos goes into full production mode, Disney doesn't try to shut down the rest of the armor makers.
  2. 1st thing, label all your parts on the inside with a sharpie. Start with the arms and go from there! Always love seeing more MTK builds.
  3. From my understanding, you want the edge on the outside to be as flush as you can, then center the 3rd ammo block with the middle of the thigh. Try to get the inner edge as close as you can to be flush but it's not a big deal if you can't.
  4. Looking awesome! The side shims aren't that bad! You got this! Also, nice red emblem honda key! I have an 8th gen SI.
  5. It really depends on how you plan to strap. If you are going screen accurate with the piano wire, you'll need quite a bit to get the screws in without it cracking. I did snaps and left 1/4 to 1/8" in parts like my kidney. On the bottom of my chest, I left more just to give it the illusion of being real armor.
  6. Looks good to me. On the shin's rear, the outer part has the finishing strip glued to it. It encloses on top of the inner portion. See ukswrath's build thread if you need a visual. I don't think you have glued anything yet but you have the outer part tucked under the inner in your pic.
  7. Preach it, brother!
  8. You can have mine since I'm doing a TD. It's MTK though
  9. Size them to your calves and mark with a pencil the point of overlap, make sure it's centered to the back of your leg. From those marks, give yourself a 1/2" ridge line on each size and cut off the leftover. The cover strip will take up 1/2" on the outer edge. If you go velcro route, the hook section will be on the inside part of the exposed cover strip and the loop section will go on the inner edge of the calf.
  10. After you upload pics to wherever, get the direct link and click the little Tree icon which allows you to link to the image.
  11. i have no problem trimming the height. i'm mad about how i have already shimed and have to redo it. am thighs i wouldn't need to shim. i'm already starting the process of redoing them. i'm really frustrated because this is suppose to be fun and i am not having much fun! maybe once after i'm approved in the 501st i'll go back and eventually buy new thighs though
  12. after talking to the wife, i really don't want to drop more money on new thighs and since i've become a subject matter expert on shimming, i'm going to cut them back open and widen some more so i can get them higher.
  13. I'm 5'5". I Ended Up Trimming 1 1/2" Off The Bottom Of The Calve. It's An Improvement But I'm Still Really Close To Pulling The Trigger On NEw Thighs Anyways. Now I NEed To Figure Out How To Do The Enclose For The Back Of The Calves. No Way 1" Cover Strip Will Work On My Big Calf Muscle.
  14. I have MTK but am considering AM thighs. I'll do the trimming on the calfs and see if it improves things
  15. They are as high as I possibly can get them. That's why I'm considering buying new ones
  16. Ok here's some pictures of my thigh and calf. I have my thighs pulled as high as they will possibly go. I'm thinking I may have messed up and instead of re-doing the shimming, ordering AM thighs since they are much bigger than MTK. Let me know what you think. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to trim the shins. I still have my cut line marked before Josh talked me out of it. I can bend my knee but even with the rear cut outs, that's as far as I can go without it digging in. Rear: Acceptable gap between ab and thigh? Without my boot on my shin meets up with the bottom of the thigh now so with the boot on it's even worse. Should I trim the bottom so I can pull it down to give myself a knee gap? Yes, I know I have hobbit feet
  17. 20mm on the front, I went with 7/8" on front of thighs and shins.
  18. Oh man, two days with no FISD! That was tough and I actually had to do work at work. I will get those pictures tonight but I received my quote for AM thighs. Let's just say thighs will cost more than a hundro so I need review of my current set up first before asking the boss lady permission.
  19. Ok, I already got the s-snaps in place so I'll follow through. Waiting for a reply back from AM about a quote on thighs. I won't make any purchase until I get feed back from some photos I'll take tonight.
  20. Sorry, I meant the one around the waist.
  21. Desert SERGEANT! I was a Non-Commissioned Officer(NCO) in the Army and calling an NCO a sir/ma'am would get you scuffed up Yeah, I've been looking at a few SWAT builds. Some of them just blow me away with their weathering. - On your build, maybe I overlooked it, but did you heat bend the ammo belt before riveting it to the canvas belt? That's all I have left to do and it'll be fully assembled. - I'm going to take a picture of my legs suited up tonight and need some advice. It just doesn't look right and I'm thinking about ditching my thighs all together and getting AM thighs. I read on MEPD about a guy not wanting to shim his MTK thighs and bought AM thighs. I know they are huge so that means no shimming, just trimming height wise.
  22. Didn't get to finish tonight so it's on the agenda for tomorrow. Tony, Is there a set location for the TD knee plate or is it just centered vertically and the left and right points of the diamond centered with the calve top ridge line? That's how trooperbay explained it in his video. Need SWAT member's advice lol
  23. I just figured maybe because I had to shim that it threw off the dimensions some how. I'll hit that up later tonight or tomorrow after work. Thanks everyone for help. I'll be asking for more help here soon as I'm getting closer to the finishing line
