  1. Got mine after nearly 3 months of waiting (China....). Awesome magnets. I mean magnets themselves are pretty awesome but these ? I destroyed the first one straight after unboxing when I tried at what distance the magnets would attract each other and one simply shattered. 3 days ago I got skin from my finger jammed between two of them and now I have some kind of blood bubble on that finger. They arrived way to late to help me build my new armor though, that's what I actually bought them for.
  2. 19 troops so far, 25 if you just count the days. Should be 22 at the end of the year. My favourite troop measured by how entertained the crown was would be Legoland, my personal favourite troop that satisfied the inner geek the most would be Roleplay Convention. @captsafe66 36 troops so far, you're a beast, sir !
  3. Hey there, the bucket shot where you light up the bucket to show the lenses: Looks like there are no lenses in your helmet at all. Is this because the material is that thin ? If so, make sure your eyes aren't visible. Good luck with Centurion, very nice looking armor !
  4. Hey there, I gave the infamous biceps hook a try on my last troop and I have to say, like all the other "screen accurate" stuff, it works incredibly well. The hook on the right is a little too small and won't catch the elastic correctly, but that's an easy fix. The left hook works well but after some time of moving around, I noticed my biceps starts rotating in my shoulder bell and it starts to feel uncomfortable when I bend my arm. Was there any additional fixation that would prevent this ? Other than the white tape solution
  5. Here's a great reference thread on how TM builds one of his own kits. You can see the spacing of the shoulder straps on page 2: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19340&hl=tm%201.5&st=20 However, the spacing may vary depending on manufacturer and body size
  6. In addition to Spectre's suggestion: I think cover strips for the calves can be up to 2,5cm width and to be honest, I've seen approved armor with even larger coverstrips. You can just estimate it but you can see the left trooper's right cover strip pretty good in this screen cap and I think this cover strip is around 2,5cm width. This might buy you some additional millimeters to get rid of any gap on your calves.
  7. ESB for the win ! Looking good, sir. Some remarks though: I don't know the ATA kit but your backplate almost looks like ROTJ with this strange return edge or whatever that is. Might want to trim that down a bit more. Maybe it's just bad reflection on the pics. Maybe try to find an undersuit that's more tight so the fabric doesn't overlap your shoulder bells or form these "bags" around the elbow area. Just some hints, your suit still looks good the way it is right now. Good luck with EIB and go for Centurion !
  8. I believe for voice manipulation to sound like a stormtrooper, this would be the most popular gadget: http://tkproductsllc.net/product/icomm-imperial-communication-system/ Comes with static burst effect. Expensive though but hey, who ever told you this hobby was cheap ?
  9. I've just finished my new suit last weekend and am now making the last modifications to request Centurion and after that, I'm gonna start a clone. These rude kids keep calling me "clone" in my TK so I give them clone. Cody Phase2 Animated to be precise. But only as a second costume, I'll always be a TK.
  10. So there's no definite source or proof what material the gloves were, we can just judge the look of one's gloves and compare that to the screen caps ? Okay. I'd take the "accurate" out of the thread title because we don't know what acutally is "accurate" but I don't know how to edit the title.
  11. Oopsie, "silk" not "nylon". Dammit, should have checked the CRLs before all this "accurate" stuff. Just to get this right: They would be no problem for Centurion but they are not screen accurate because they are nylon not silk ?
  12. "Accurate" in terms of Centurion Requirements, I'm not sure if it's known/proven what gloves were used on screen exactely (Accurazis enlight me !). Edit: They should be okay for Centurion, however, they aren't screen accurate. Check discussion below for details ! Here's the shop I ordered, website is in german, maybe you can get Google Chrome to translate it properly or try to figure out the ordering, it's a direct link to the gloves: --------- They provide international shipping, here are the details: --------- The gloves are of a very good quality, other nylon gloves I ordered were slightly cheaper but also very thin and so small I couldn't even fit them over my hand completely. I ordered both sizes M and L and L fits a bit better but the difference between M and L isn't that big. As a reference: My canvas trooper gloves that trooperbay sold/still sells are M. Here are some pics: --------- Hope this helps, have fun sewing the handguards to the gloves
  13. Hey there, nice build, you already got a lot of feedback so it should be easy to become Centurion. A little remark that might not affect Centurion but screen accuracy (correct me if I'm wrong on this): Shouldn't the ear screws be flat ? Yours look like bubble-head screws (I lack the correct term, sorry). Is it just the paint on them that makes them appear round or are they really not flat ?
  14. Did you just file a question to the GMOs or have you sent your application for joining the 501st ? It might take some time until you get answer from them since they're always busy and approving a costume is not a matter of 5minutes and you're good. Just be patient. Oh and by the way: Dan and ObiHahn used to be the German Garrison's GMOs. The current GMOs are here: http://501st.de/kontakt.php
  15. There's no definite size for them ? I thought someone would know the size of the original suit brackets and they would only differ in the height of the brackets you need for your chestpiece. Is there an average size then ?
  16. I'm using this thread and its pics as reference for my current build (TM 1.5mm), it's great to have everything right in one thread, especially thigh / shin assembly. One question: How many cm is the gap between the two screws of a braket of the strapping system ?
  17. That's a really good explaination. To be honest, I haven't thought about a home system yet (awkward, given the fact we're in a sci-fi environment, isn't it ?). The only one who needs to know your entire backstory in my opinion is yourself. The benefit for you is you can jump back and forth between details depending on the current conversation or situation. The benefit for the visitor is a more authentic feeling when interacting with the 501st. I guess that's the extra effort that fills the gap between wearing a TK armor and cosplay. Now I need to think of a home system to fit my backstory....meh
  18. Evochron looks really good but right now I'm having a hard time getting into the game. So many commands and details, it's crazy. Legends of Pegasus got released this weekend, don't buy it. People go crazy on the forums, it's not just buggy it's "not done yet" as if they released a pre-alpha phase game. Refund claims on Steam Network, angry customers and the devs trying to patch stuff as good as possible.
  19. LadyInWhite sums it up pretty good. Get yourself a backstory and be prepared for the most common questions, especially from kids. "Where's Vader", "Is this blaster real ?" etc. There is a video of a lecture of Jay Laga'aia, I think from FedCon or something, where he also points out how to move as a stormtrooper. You wanna walk as if on alert or on patrol. The good news is, you're wearing a helmet, noone's gonna see your face. So if you try out some interaction with the crowd and it turns out to be awkward, so be it. Noone knows it was you. The only thing I refuse to do is kinda "force" people into a certain situation such as being held hostage (the infamous on-your-knees-arms-behind-your-head-trooper-behind-you) or getting handcuffed. I have no moral problem with this stuff, I do it if the person asks for it and I personally think it's a pretty cool picture for the visitors, just forcing them to do it because you wanna do it is a bad idea, in my opinion.
  20. Steam says "local coop mode" as well as "coop mode". Hopefully it doesn't need to be connected to Steam all the time to play This actually looks like the fast-paced X-like game I'm looking for. Textures look a bit cheap sometimes but what I read about it in terms of game features sounds great. Big galaxy/universe without any portals to connect each sector and the trailer shows you can even fly to the surface of a planet from the orbit ? I can't believe this game is a so called "indie-title". Thanks for this hint, I think I'll check it out this evening. TV program sucks anyways these days.
  21. What game are we talking about ? Had a chat with one of the gang, there's a game coming up called "Legends Of Pegasus". I found a preview article from a german gaming magazine, it has customizable ships (appearance and equipment), rolebased interstellar travel and planetary landing like the Twilight Imperium boardgame and overall it's a RTS space game like Sins of a Solar Empire. One cool feature that really popped out (in my opinion) is you can adjust the altitude of your ships to a certain degree giving you slight tactical advancements. Just like in the Wrath of Khan, when Kirk outsmarts Khan cause Khan doesn't think of spacebattle as in a 3 dimensional ......oh wait, um, the force and ...lightsabers and stuff....I'm no trekkie
  22. Hi there, once in a while, some friends and I meet to do what was known as LAN or Network party in ancient times, back in the days when the wolves owned the woods and the night was full of horrors, back in the days when you couldn't download a full Bluray movie in the glimpse of an eye......anyways, we usually play Civilizations4, Sins of a Solar Empire or Crusader Kings 2 (I totally hate that game). We all enjoy Space Simulation games like X3 but non of these have multiplayer. Does anyone know a game which might meet most of the following aspects: Space exploration Economy Own Ships / Fleet customizable Dogfights / Fleet Battles vs NPC and each other I'm talking about good ol' LAN / Dedicated Server mode games, no MMOs I know there's Freelancer but we tried that once and the graphics are horrible. Any recommendations ?
  23. Nah, I won't do the MkII don't worry, I was just asking so I could pick the appropriate scenes from the BluRay for reference right away without first checking if it's MkII or ANH-Reused. For the ANH style elastic to hold the strap down in the back: I totally agree. They would have been this way if the suits were in better shape after ANH. But the CRLs for Centurion say otherwise.
