  1. I'm gonna start my second ESB build in the next few days, this time aiming for Centurion. The shoulder bridge assembly is one of the things I haven't read much about until this thread. Still not sure where to put the velcro and if it should be velcro at all. A fellow garrison member gave me the advise to just pick one of the troopers on screen and try to resemble his armor with all the weathering, helmet faceplate positions etc. So which of the scenes were filmed using the old ANH suits, which ones have the MkII suits ?
  2. Hey there, I've tried several solutions for voice in my bucket. There's pretty much two possibilites: Amp under my chestplate or amp in my bucket. Since I own an AKER there's no way I can get this in my bucket together with my head, it's simply to big (the amp). I also can't put it under my (current) chestplate cause it would lift it up at one side. So I opened up the AKER. Turns out most of the big housing is for the speaker, the circuit board is kinda "build" around the speaker with the batteries in the lower part of the housing. Board, speaker and batteries are connected via plugs, easy to disasemble. I was thinking of something like a custom housing for the board only, with the speaker and batteries separated so you can use the space you have in your helmet plus you can change to a smaller speaker or mic tip speakers you have in your helmet. My custom housing was a total fail though, so I figured I might as well put the board in a small plastic bag or just leave it blank. Do you thing the board might die because of moisture in the helmet ? Anyone ever done an AKER mod ? Any housing from other products that might fit the AKER board ?
  3. I like the "screen used look" when it comes to weathering the TK as seen in the Tantive raid for example and the overall accurate details (rivets/snaps). I even review new scuffs after trooping and decide wether I keep them or try to rub them off. It just gives the TK a more used look and a touch of really used gear rather than an all new shiny suit. I wouldn't go for paint chips and HDPE mockup paint because I suck at paint jobs and I'd never do this white-tape-to-keep-biceps-in-place thing because it looks really cheap in my opinion. However, that's what I like to do with my armor. I appreciate the EIB and Centurion programs and the work of those who take it even beyond this level of accuracy. After all, we all do it for ourselves so we feel comfy and like a stormtrooper in our very own armor. A 5 year old kid will recognize us as a stormtrooper no matter if you have paint chips like first trooper to the left in ANH scene XY or if you don't have any rivets and cover strips used on your armor. Or they'll call you a clone, cause that's what we are now, thanks to "The Clone Wars"
  4. I don't have exactely this suit but I used to have a single-piece body suit made of spandex or at least some artifical fiber stuff (don't know the proper english term for that fabric, you get the idea) After the first troop I got these dark purple marks at the return edges and after each troop there was more of that color that kinda wore off of the suit into the HIPS material. Not even magic erasers helped here, only sanding. I'm back to a cotton undersuit now. I'm not saying this is going to happen with your spandex suit but watch out for these marks and discard that suit ASAP if you notice them.
  5. I'm already approved ? You guys are awesome, thank you so much ! Also thank you for your feedback. It's always nitpicking, but without this attitude we wouldn't have EIB / Centurion, right ?
  6. Here's my EIB request. 7. I know your goal is becoming a 501st Member (which is awesome by the way ) and you already have a kit so why spend this huge amount of money on another contemporary kit. But if I read that correctly, you are the proud owner of one of 3 Marco Kits worldwide, together with that restoring guy and Sansweet (probably). That makes the entire suit, despite the odd look compared to newer kits, something special, I'd even say: treat it as if it was an original movie prop. Make it look good and shiny/dirty but don't wear it or troop it. As others have said, after all these years, the material might be too fragile. Conserve it and make it become a piece of fan-made TK armor history
  8. Hey dude, your armor looks really amazing. One question about your straps here: Where on these straps does the glue stop, or which part of it remains stretchable ? Only the part where you sew the "sling" together ? I figure the strap has to be pretty strong in order to hold the halfs together without having a black gap when walking
  9. TK 7961 of German Garrison requesting 501st status http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=13293 Thanks !
