I built my trigger guard out of aluminium.Yep, good work

I'd happily take it off your hands if you were in the UK.

As an aside - These don't come with T tracks or trigger guard, do they? Just wondering how the guard gets constructed/fixed on?

Having accepted that the thighs are as they are, and not much I can do about them at the moment ( but still open to suggestions! )
I have decided to carry on the rebuild none the less.
As I have ordered a new belt and have covers on the way I thought I would begin the prep.
I have removed the old press stud covers which were used.
Attached the drop boxes via studs ( I will change this method to the loop system further down the line if needed ) which when hanging free give around 1 mm clearance between boxes and belt.
Marked out the 45° cuts I have to make in order to correct the rounded corners.

Had a thought.
Would it be possible to run abs paste down the seam, sand it down and polish it up? Or would this be too corrosive?

I have been thinking long and hard about using the heat iron to replicate the piece that was chopped off. And to be honest am really anxious / reluctant to.
Is there any way around this?
Here's what I have....
The green highlights the shape of the outer thigh with the original molded raised seam.
The purple on the inner has had the respective seam removed.
Do I remove the remaining molded cover and butt the inner to the outer an place a cover strip which would look like this?
Is this clearable?
I am am really concerned as it should look like this.
Would love to hear what you guys suggest.

It's good to see you are coming around. Just do what you're comfortable with and others will walk you through the rest. Don't have much experience myself but if you need anything give me a shout ☺Yeah, i've been in contact with an 'armourer' on UKG. I can glue all limbs (except shins) at the rear, so i'll be doing that soon

Is that an old video or is it recent? I know criteria does change from time to time as my older armour is still clearable but the lid from the same kit isn't.Came across this video just now - "Keith Moss" of the Singapore 501st, showing how to put armour on. Seems to be a pretty much unmodified SDS kit - Even still has the white plastic clip on the TD, but has canvas belt. All leg pieces are velcro. Weird that they wouldn't have at least a basic approval kit for the video? Or have things changed since the video?

Just start with something you may feel your comfortable tackling. Like the biceps.

6000No worries mate - K I just got that app so I will get you a better explained picture - is that e-6000 or CA?

Only one has a raised seam. That's my concern about removing the one raised seam. If they had both I would year them apart and do the butt method. I don't think it could get cleared with no raised seam.
I apologise for the condition. Like I said, when I first got it I didn't know what I was doing when I built it!

This is how it is assembled, if I remove the raised seam then it would look like this with the cover strip

Is it possible to cut the overlap down to perform butt joints with slightly larger cover strips without affecting sizing and then reinforce with internal cover strips to fill in the gap?
Remove the whole overlap (between red lines ) and butt together with cover?
Would this be allowed ? As there would be no raised part on the front, apart from the cover strip over a flat seam.

Happy days (until I can afford new thighs!)

Another quick question....
The thighs are overlap method. Do I need to go butt join for EIB? Only there is no "molded" cover on the inside pieces of either thighs.

Anymore thoughts on how to stop these bells rotating backwards?

It does, thanks. I have seen the post you're talking about....couldn't find it either!Waist ammo belt rivet covers.
I'm pretty sure any armor vendor will sell you a set OR make your own using the following button modification. Find a steel object where the head is the same size as the round/raised portion at the center of the ab belt. Warm up one end of the metal, press it into a piece of flat scrap or cover strip plastic creating a dome of similar size. Once cooled cut the square area around it.
I know there's a tutorial where a guy uses a heated dime to accomplish this but I can;t find it.
Hope this helps

Does anyone know the size of the button covers, or whatever they're called for the belt?

I understand how overwhelming it can seem. I have been there, and I'm pretty sure everyone else has too. I have an old FX kit which I am rebuilding as I did not know what I was doing and just threw it all together. I ripped it all apart and started from scratch. By reading the threads of others my confidence is growing. I don't have much of a skill set as others here, trust me, if I can build, then anyone can! As the big man says, read the build threads, take your time, and buy lots of clamps and magnets!Don't do that. It's an easy mod. Just take it slow and read some of the build threads of other people. It's the same process you'll be doing.
Think about how much money you have already invested. You can be well on your way in no time with a bit of glue and clamps.
There are loads of people here and all willing to help. Any questions then just ask .

Going back to the bells. Is there a better way to get them to stay in place? They seem to want to rotate towards the back of the bicep.
Is it worth trying to tighten the bicep elastic up? Don't want to go too tight as I don't want to pull the bell out of shape.
