  1. AVOID Makerof at all costs! I bought a helmet "kit" from them, and it was cheap, flimsy, and cast crooked. Just trying to warn ya. Keep your distance! Sincerely, NewTrooper2"
  2. Hello fellow troopers. I'm working on a new ABS helmet kit I just got and have a question. I had a fiasco with my 1st helmet I got from the ebay seller "MakerofThings", and ended up trashing that worthless kit. Now, I have a bright, new, shiny ABS kit that looks wonderful. I'm up to trimming and placing the ears on it, and wondered what you all use to fill in any gaps along the seams between the earpieces and the helmet sides. I was thinking caulk, but you would prolly want something with a bit of flex to it. I figued you would use someting that will give a good smooth seal, and not need alot of sanding. Any ideas? Also, even though the helmet looks like it needs no finish on it, is it o.k. to paint an ABS helmet? I mean would there be paint adhesion issues with the kit? I've never painted ABS before, and was curious. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks much, and long live the Empire! Sincerely, "NewTrooper2"
  3. Even as a newbie, I can state STAY AWAY from Makerofthings! I "attempted" to assemble a helmet kit I got from him recently as my 1st helmet build, and well, it ended in a horrible mess. The helmet cracked at rivet points, ( from thin product ). And once assembled, the front mask was found to be horribly moulded out of alignment. So please, PLEASE, avoid his kits like the plague. On a personal note, I've since ordered a nice kit from a person on here, ( ABS80 ), and hopefully, once he catches up on shipments, I'll get mine and get to start on a "quality" designed kit. I hope everyone can reccomend ABS80 as a good seller. Like I said, I'm new to this, and I've heard some good things about him from people on here. Anyways, stay away from MOT, and do a little research. It will save you headaches, pain, AND money in the end! Best of luck, and keep trooping! Sincerely, NewTrooper2
  4. I personally LOVE the HUGE freakin' screw DEAD CENTER in the forehead. Makes it kinda look like a Hindu helmet.
  5. ABS80,

any idea when my helmet I paid for will be shipping out. I've been trying to contact you, and haven't gotten a response as of yet.

    Sincerely,

    NewTrooper2

  7. Hello everyone. I got a substandard kit off evilbay and am not pleased at all with it as my 1st build. Where is a good place, or who is good to talk to, to find a great quality kit I can build for my 1st helmet? Anyone have any they want to part with? Any help, or links would be GREATLY appreciated! Sincerely, NewTrooper2 Thanks again!
  8. I like the trooper in the front row on the left with the misaligned lower calf armor. He looks as if his leg has been broken! LOL

  10. Thanks for the help everyone! Much appreciated. I really can't wait to get this helmet rolling. I have an old Don Post Studios trooper helmet, but I've always wanted something MORE screen accurate, and this kit is really good! Since it's my 1st, I'm hoping my modelbuilding kit skills for detailing and painting will come into play for finishing it. I really enjoy modelbuilding, so this is a nice break from that, and a treat. Building starships does get tedious after awhile...........LOL I ordered my brow trim and screen from TK-4510's site. ( Thanks for the link No'l! )I'll be sure to see about getting my mic tips from Keith as well, when I get to that point. I'll be sure to post some progress pics when I get it rolling, and I plan on using the invaluable videos posted by TK-4510 to show me the steps. I put my Don Post mask up on ebay to sell, so I can put the proceeds back into funding my build. I really am excited to get started. Thanks again for the help, and the warm welcome to the site. It's members like you that make these sites a great thing to be a part of. Sincerely, NewTrooper2 ( Scorpitat2 )
  11. Hello everyone. I'm new to the site, and have a build question. I just got a TE Stormtrooper kit off ebay that I am going to build, and wanted to know....where is a good place to get, and what to get, for the black brow trim piece on my helmet? I know I can get them on ebay, but shipping is outrageous from Argentina! I figured I would ask on here, and see if anyone knew of local, or easy to find products, which make a good trim piece. I've watched the great assembly videos on the site, and man, they are a godsend! I also want to find some nice ideas for the mic tips on my helmet. The resin ones on ebay look cheap, and well,,,,resin! I figured ask a trooper, for a great link or way to find these crucial parts, so I can make a great looking bucket for my noggin! Thanks in advance for any help, and please feel free to e-mail me. Hope to meet and chat to you all sometime in the future! Sincerely, NewTrooper2 ( Scorpitat2 )
