Could the 501st ever approve of Grievous as a SL costume?
-
So as I was watching Episode I, I forgot how much I liked the sounds of the movie especially the pod racers. I can recognized sounds coming from a regular engines and stuff, but whats that sound that comes from the boost, start ups, and such sounds? Just food for thought Quinn

I like the hands too, seem cheaper and easier than a fully jointed hand. i will probably settle on a frame like that. Would like to have a better what to stand it up versus just having it lean against the wall.

@MiDri One idea I just had is just sell the joints and plans for the length of the pvc pipes. That would really cut shipping cost @SuperTrooper I will defiantly look that one up. =D I did a google search on pvc mannequin, came up with TK 5108, that isn't Scott is it?
-
@MiDri hows your kits coming along?
-
I am going to go for this =D ...once my armor get heres =)

@runnriottt About how much could you expect to pay for a basic PVC mannequin? Here on FISD a guy (srry forgot name) was thinking about doing runs of pvc mannequin for about $100. Little to much for me since i would like two.

Helmet & Ab paint detail reference guide

ANH is Dark Blue #15 right? Cheers, Quinn -
Hope I posted this in the right section, but I been doing some research trying to find a Mannequin for cheap so I can display 2 sets of TK armor. I found some inflatable mannequins for around less than $30. Anyone heard good news of these? I was thinking these might be good, but doubt it could support TK armor very well. Any thoughts? Cheers, Quinn

Quinn's ATA Build[*ATA]

"inexpensive as a painted Hasbro" In that case, I already have a hasbro. Sorry for newb question, but I thought it was required to mod it with some kit. -

Since we are talking about blaster for now, is it frowned appon for a TK to carry a DLT19? Its a just a personality thing I like to carry big guns no matter what (video games or paintball). I do realize it it cannon and I wouldn't have to get a holster (you can see it here ~1:04:20 when the search party is aboard the M.F.) I was looking at droopydo's but is there any cheaper that 180 USD? After some reseach, crushman is out of the question, too soft in details. BTW, ATA sent me a message today saying he will be starting my armor next =D I almost jumped out of my chair at school when I read that. =D -

Sorry for double post, But I was thinking of the other parts of the costume. I know where to get the belt and the holster, but blaster is something I have having trouble. I was thinking hyperfirm, but @ $200 is a little to much but a resin kit for a hasbro is a little to brittle for me. I saw that (i think) SD props were making them but now have stopped due to issues. I don't know of any other e-11 replicas execpt crushman, but i heard that wasn't a good route. Any advice? -
Where to get Armor - Resource/Tutorial List
Quinn_101 replied to Daetrin's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
anyone want to take that on? maybe even (with their permission) have Forum suppliers (members or 501st and non members) be added to what ever section they belong to. Just an idea felt like throwing out there. -

@naatsirhc yes that did very much and even answer my question about closing the shins in the back =D. one thing is I noticed on most ATA builds is that one of the thighs edges don't line up creating a sorta gap. I am not sure I want to take a blow gun to it since with my lack of true skill is lacking but is other wise not sure how to fix I was wondering how you fixed it or if it was not even present. Also what is that black 'paint' that you put inside of your helmet. I like the look of the finished product. P.s. I just noticed how your FISD name is your real name just scramed XP Thanks, Quinn -

Ok this may be silly but I should have it clarify, Since you adding a strip on top of the armor, the sides of the armor should add up to equal the strip. EX: If you using a 1" strip for the back of the shins, it should be 1/2" on either sides of the shin part. correct? same goes for the 7/8" and the arm strips. -
Hey FISD, Currently I am waiting eagerly for my new armor from ATA. For those who know me, this would be my second attempt at a build (first one not being so great over all =/. I have noted to myself what I need to focus on such as return edges, attention to detail, assembly. I been reading and following Naatsirhc's build and found a unanswered question, for the ridges, Naatsirhc cut out 7/8 and 1 inch strips for the leg pieces. I believe that the 7/8 strips go on front and back of thigh and front shin, while the 1" is for the back of the shin only. I will be also trying for EIB status so any tips would be good. Thanks all, hope to start building soon. Quinn

great looking build, But i was wondering if ATA has the indented or should i say shins that wrap/form around you leg like TE2 does? I can't tell from the pics. cheers, jesse -
WOW thanks Tom for the how to. Very detailed. But I got it fixed, I ordered new ears from AP. I wouldn't want to to keep that ear anyways because where the cracks were it was basically almost as thin as a cup lid from taco bell, wendys, BK, etc.

Yeah I should do that now. I still Kind of a newbie to whose in the 501st. Didn't know that someone makes them for sale.

http://cgi.ebay.com/stormtrooper-armor-e-1...d#ht_662wt_1165 So i need one of these. Naturally i would go to ebay. This guy seems to know what he is talking about. Or is there a better route to go to? Thanks, Jesse

ATA painting help (HIPS plastic)
Quinn_101 replied to darthmaul101079's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I am curious about this too. I have a suit made out of Sterelyne and I used Rustoluem Plastic Spectitally Paint then added White Enamel to it. I looks good, but can easily be scuffed or scratched off. On my broken ear caps I tested another way to get shine and I was surprised. I used a old can of spay enamel for drawings (to prevent smearing) and the shine is ridiculous. However, it was VERY liquidity so on the ear bumps there is less. So would Primer, Main Coat, then Enamel be a wise way to go as well? -
anyone got a pic one one? i love to see it.

I never seen him sell those. Where they good?
