Lil Help!

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a TE HDPE bucket and would really appreciate some advice on how to get the paint to stick, and get a smooth finish.

The offending item...

I have cans of Krylon Gloss White (Fusion variety not available in Oz), and Rustoleum "Universal" Gloss White (supposedly sticks to anything).

My first attempt with Krylon appeared thin and watery, and bubbled in some areas so I wiped it off. The Rustoleum was marginally better, but bubbled in the same areas! I have just scraped all of it off after it became touch dry. Will sanding the plastic give the paint a better grip? I still want some of the paint to peel/chip off in certain areas to give the weathered look. This is what I hope to replicate.

Thanks Steve.

After digging a loooong way back I found a post claiming that enamels work better on this plastic. So I have tried this.

I've used this paint before but it takes forever to dry :(

And what the helmet looks like now...
