spoox[501st] Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Hi guys, I am off this week and am planning to glue my FX kit together. My question is... What is the best order to do this? I figure, arms and biceps can be done when ever but what about the rest? I know on my clone I started with the butt/abs/back to make the chest fit over it nicely but is that really needed for the TK? since it is kind of open on the sides. Any advice is welcome Also for us female troopers. How do we go by camouflaging the hips? I was thinking about making the abs a bit wider by adding foam since I am the typical pear shape hour glass figure lol. I am not worried about the top but the legs and hips... brrr lol I probably need shims to make the calves and thighs fit. Quote
TK 6918[501st] Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 If you did a clone, you probably know more about armor building than a TK. From what I hear, clones are tougher. I usually recommend to do the helmet last as that is the hardest part, and while assembling the rest, you might learn a few things of what to do and what not to do. Quote
johnnymac Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 I did the helmet first because I couldn't wait. :-) Quote
Terry19D Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 For the three TK suits I've put together, I did each in a different order and it really seemed to make no difference. I think TKs are more forgiving than some other armor-based outfits because the pieces are relatively independent of each other. Trimming/shimming to fit your body is more important than in what order you put the armor together. That's my take on it, at least. Oh, and on my clone I actually started with the forearms/biceps and then did the thighs/calves (in progress), and I'm about ready to start on the torso and chest. I guess the way I approached it is that I wanted to work on all of the pieces that would need significant trimming, shaping, and would need to be put together seamlessly first. Putting together a TK suit is a relative cinch after doing a clone! Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 As your going fx it wont need any trimming, so thats a great start. I normally start on the arms and then work through the body and then dowm towards the legs and then at the end do all the fidely final peices like belt and thermal detonator and anything else that needs doing. And then the helmet, and leave the strapping til last. Quote
Tiepilot1138[TK] Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 I would think that if you closed the sidegaps on the ab and kidney plates it would give your torso a more cylindrical (sp?) shape. Plus, it would put you one step closer to EIB if you wanted to go that route, since closed gaps are required. Congrats on the new build! Quote
