My update for today is not a big deal, because most of the issues regarding my strapping are still unsolved but in the making. Update: Holster Installed (correct rivets will follow asap). Sit of the Helmet is better now in my opinion I think I'm a little too thin for an average trooper, as the torso armor pieces are a bit too wide and overlap on the right side. See detail picture... I'm slim built and added a block of foam behind the abdomen so it pushes the armor out giving a more rounded appearance. Some troopers add a slot and lock system which stops the sides going over each other You may also want to try some V tabs to stop your posterior from pushing out, may reduce when you fix your sides. With a heat gun or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate. 1 Quote

gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted December 21, 2025 Report Posted December 21, 2025 With the shoulder straps I would not secure at the back, usually the elastic will keep them in place OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): These shall free float in back. These shall be glued in front. You appear to have something under the front of the shoulder strap, front is normally glued to the amor 2 Quote

Andor_FX[TK] Posted December 23, 2025 Author Report Posted December 23, 2025 (edited) I had still issues with my shoulder bridges. The rubber straps will not stay in place. See picture from behind. The right shin isn't closed very nicely at the back. Detonator caps are 25mm not 20mm The creases at the bottom of the boots don't look very nice either. My goal is still a basic approvement. Working on it... Edited December 23, 2025 by Andor_FX Quote

It just looked a little weird, I run a piece the whole inner length of the shoulder strap so it looks part of it. Your elastic may not be tight enough, mine hold my straps down nicely, although a bugger to get the elastic over the strap at the start. Quote
Andor_FX[TK] Posted December 24, 2025 Author Report Posted December 24, 2025 Thank you for the advice. Can you provide a pic of of your shoulder bridge pls? I do not understand what this means: "although a bugger to get the elastic over the strap at the start." Quote

I do not understand what this means: "although a bugger to get the elastic over the strap at the start." The elastic is very tight, you have to slip and wiggle the shoulder strap through the elastic carefully. If you put the elastic around the back plate it will hold a little better. Note the right side the elastic not on completely on one corner. 1 Quote

TikiTechie[TK] Posted December 26, 2025 Report Posted December 26, 2025 I have to say I am jealous of your star wars room and hallway that looks like the Tantive IV. :) Looking good. The adjustments have made a huge difference. Quick questions: 1. Do you have an assistant for your photo shoots? If not, can you get someone to help with them, local garrison person maybe? I did photos myself at first and realized I would only see flaws in my pics after I got done, took all my gear off and discovered I had something misaligned and then had to re-kit to take them. I am just wondering if someone can help with the elastics and shoe wrinkles at least to get through the photos. 2. What is your shoe maker? Is that KeepTrooping or someone else. The top of the shoe looks a bit like it's angled up too sharply and I have not noticed that on mine from KT. My shin armor pushes down a lot but I do not get wrinkling/folds like that. Would thicker socks keep them shaped better up front and prevent it from sort of collapsing into a fold. 1 Quote
Andor_FX[TK] Posted December 27, 2025 Author Report Posted December 27, 2025 Hi Jim, thank you very much for your kind words about my costume and environment. 1. My wife took the pictures, but a fellow trooper of mine (TK) is living just around the corner. He is very busy most of the time, but he def. will take the pics for my approval 2. The shoes are black chelsea boots from amazon, painted white, I will give the trick with the socks a try, thank you for that. 1 Quote

Your finish looks better than mine did, but they didn't work for me because they were too short on top and would pop out from underneath the armor when I walked. I ended up ordering the KT boots and they worked perfectly. I'm not saying you should do the same, but that was my experience. 1 Quote

There are so many different models, and maybe one of them will fit, but which one? Now I have a much better understanding of what to look for before buying. Maybe I'll buy new ones too and use the old ones as a backup. Quote

Yeah, for what it's worth, here is the link to the boots I bought years ago. they are not available any more. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QKNGSN8?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0, Comparing them with the KT boots is pretty clear on how much taller they are. https://keeptrooping.com/product/421-classic-white/ The angle of the toe box seems to confirm they may be lower profile and would avoid that little pinch you are seeing. And, I am no shoe expert so it could just be that it worked for me. Edited December 28, 2025 by TikiTechie Quote
Andor_FX[TK] Posted December 28, 2025 Author Report Posted December 28, 2025 I will give this one a try. They come from a maker / brand named ZIGN (80 Euros). They are very high and also smal in the area where the shins will touch them. They are made of leather. I will post pictures when they arrive. Quote
TikiTechie[TK] Posted December 28, 2025 Report Posted December 28, 2025 I wasn't clear on the reason for not purchasing pre-finished ones from KeepTrooping (or some other maker). Were they not shipping to your location? I hate to see you go through the work of painting black shoes white for a bit less than the cost of the KT boots. Quote
Andor_FX[TK] Posted December 29, 2025 Author Report Posted December 29, 2025 Jim, I understand your point. Shipping from England to Germany isn't a problem, of course. But the customs and shipping fees are very high, and it would take quite a while for the shoes to arrive. Furthermore, from my perspective, dyeing the shoes isn't necessarily a disadvantage, since that's exactly what was done in the OT. Thank you anyway for your opinion. I haven't decided yet how I'm ultimately going to do it. Quote

Andor_FX[TK] Posted January 2 Author Report Posted January 2 (edited) Happy New Year to all Troopers. I am back in the game, but still adjusting the strapping and trimming. This is the 10th time I test fitted the armor since I have started the build. I followed the tips from gmrhodes13 and was able to improve the fit of my armor. The trick with the thicker socks helps to reduce the wrinkles on the boots a bit, but I'm still waiting for new ones, though; let's see if they fit better. The backside will follow in afew days with more improvements. Edited January 2 by Andor_FX Quote
