JSmails[501st] Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 I need the white material for the drop down boxes. This is for ROTJ. I saw something like what I'd like at Wal-mart in the sewing section, but it seemed too lineny/linenlike (are those words?? ). I figured with that material the boxes would swing all about as I moved. Is this the way it was in the movies? I'm hoping there is a similiar strapping material that is more "starchy" so as to hold them in place a bit more. Thanks for any help! I guess I'll have to watch the Endor scene in ROTJ again to see if the boxes are just swinging about wildly as the TK's are running around chasing ewoks. Quote
Scott M.[TK] Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 I think 90% of us use nylon strapping, but if you can find 3/4" canvas webbing, that would probably be stiffer. Something like you find at an army surplus store??? Quote
JSmails[501st] Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 Thanks for your reply Scott. So just the white stuff from Wal-mart is good enough? It's good by me if everyone else is using it. I guess the boxes should "swing" a little when walking then? Thanks! Quote
Lan-Ed-Tul[TK] Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 i used something i had leftover from 2 shelve bookcases, in the assembly kit were these white webstrap lookin straps used to secure the tops to the wall so they wont tip over, it was perfect to use for my dropboxes Quote

I think you just saved me a couple dollars at the fabric store. If I'm not mistaken I have a couple of those straps in my basement from some bookcases I have. I guess, like me, you never bothered to strap your bookcases to the wall either. Quote
