Brand New and Slightly Lost

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

Recently, I saw someone trooping and I immediately became a huge fan.  I told myself I had to make my own suit.  I downloaded the most popular stormtrooper armor in stl format from Thingiverse and starting 3d printing.  Soon after, I find out about this amazing group and other trooper organizations and now I would love to be part of that!  However, now I'm trepidatious that my costume may not be accepted.  It certainly isn't screen accurate, but it is kinda close though.  Am I freaking out for no reason?  I'm still reading and looking up how to join the nearest troop / garrison and how to connect with someone who can guide me on my costume.  I have almost half of the suit printed before I stopped, so that I could find out.

I have to be honest and say that I do feel a bit overwhelmed on where to even start.  So far, I think I need to do this:

Step 1 - make an account here (check)

Step 2 - find out the garrison nearest me and find out how to join (Since I'm in Northeast Tennessee, I believe it's Midsouth Garrison in TN)

Step 3 - request to join, fill out application, etc. and ask someone there to give me feedback and help with my costume

Step 4 - finish making my costume

Step 5 - Submit it for my local garrison approval, then submit it for 501st approval.

Step 6 - join garrison activities to do good in my community

and, hopefully, have fun along this journey, without ending up in a mental hospital or going bankrupt in the process.

Is this correct?  Did I miss anything?  Thoughts, comments, suggestions?  Thanks so much!

Hello and welcome aboard.

Step 5 - you submit photos and info to your GML and only fill out membership application for 501st https://databank.501st.com/databank/Join_Us as well as select 5 X TKID numbers, you can find a list of available TKID's here https://www.501st.com/members/search_avail_ids.php

501st

Depending on what version costume would depend which CRL you follow, CRL's (costume reference library) is the base level of 501st legion acceptance of costumes, FISD CRL's can be found here https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL

Only 3D printed costumes which have been approved so far (to my knowledge) are Rogue One and First Order.

There are some Original Trilogy files here which was used for vacforming, for printing you may have to soften some edges

Here is a great thread full on info, mainly for the Original Trilogy Stormtroopers https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49412-all-in-one-tk-anh-stunt-index-of-resources-by-maskedvengeance/

Hello and welcome to FISD.

Research and post questions here in the forum before you buy a stormtrooper kit.

Maybe FISD Imperial Attache from Midsouth Garrison can help and guide you.

It will be easier if you get help from them on your journey to build your Stormtrooper costume.
