TX-8687[501st]
I will be receiving my armor next week, i'm 5'11" 200lbs, a little more on the athletic build, will there be a problem??? It's a standard FX kit....will i have anything to worry about???? I know there will be trimming to do, but will the armor pieces fit, like the shoulder bells???? Murray1134[501st]
The fit really depends on the assembly. Unless you are Hulk sized, I don't think you'll have a problem with the shoulder bells. However, it's all plastic so if you absolutely had to you could get a heat gun and reshape things. Shimming and trimming will help. What has helped me a lot is getting a friend or significant other to help you do a test fit and just tape things in place to get an idea of what you will need to adjust. tkrestonva[TK]
I'm 6'1, 210 lbs and an avid weightlifter. I bought the FX kit, the shoulders were fine. I didn't do any trimming, in fact I wish the lower leg pieces were a bit longer. I did however have to shim the biceps, forearms, and calves to get them to close. The spare ABS strips that came with the kit worked perfectly for shimming. Like Paul said, before you start gluing or cutting anything, do a test fit with the armor taped together first. TX-8687[501st]
is it just me....or do the bicep pieces on the FX run a little tight on some people???? it's just barely fits over my arm, but when i bend it it could cause a problem!!!! has anyone else adjusted theres to be a little wider????? if so, how????? journeymanprotector
Yes, I've shimmed mine just enough so that instead of the back of the biceps overlapping they just sit flush. I just put a strip of hook on the inside edge of each piece, then use a double-wide piece of sew-on loop velcro to connect them. It's a really simple way to shim stuff, I did the same with my calves. You and I are almost identical in size. I'm 5'11" and about 204. I'd put myself on the pudgier side but I have no real problem wearing the armor out of the box with the aforementioned shims. I do have to suck my gut in, but you sound like you're in better shape than me. Here's a full shot of me recently: ------------- My kit has the new, wider thighs. They are a god-send so far as fitting well, but they are a little fat/wide from the front, making them look a little strange. tkrestonva[TK]
Check out this tutorial on TK300's site http://www.tonybarnett.plus.com/shims.html I used this technique to shim my biceps, calves, and forearms. Works great! I even went the extra step of permanently gluing the shims in place. Before shimming the biceps, if I so much as bent my arm a little bit the biceps would fly apart. No problems anymore. journeymanprotector
cool link, except for the extra piece of plastic, that's exactly what I did. Instead I just connect the two pieces so flush that no piece of plastic in between is needed. Phil
