Kissimmeeguy Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 This is my very first post ever on this forum so please forgive my lack of education. I want to learn! What is recast armor and why is it not favorable? Before joining this forum I did a lot of research on TK armor and it would seem that anything recast is talked about in a negative manor but as a newbie I have no idea what recasting means. Can someone explain to me what it is and what the alternative is?

Dreamdasher Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 In short, it's when someone makes a cast of a cast. Basically, if you build your own prop using a guide (screencaps, step-by-step, research, etc), you have a replica. If you then create a mold from that replica and cast parts from it, you have what's called a "cast." If someone takes one of those casts and creates molds of their own from it, and then casts parts from that, those are called "recasts." To sum it up: Replica > Copy > Copy of Copy Some people frown on the practice of recasting entirely, while others only frown on recasters that claim their products are true castings.
