Parts debrazed...

20150808_123313_zpstv2qasto.jpg

It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I bought a Bernzomatic TS8000 torch from Lowe's. It's a high intensity soldering and brazing torch that uses MAP fuel instead of regular propane. If you ever have to do this, heat it from the inside until red hot. Grab the part with pliers and rock back and forth until loose. The muzzle, as predicted, gave me a fit. It should have just fallen through the barrel tube except it is pinned in two places. I had to grind the pins down then cut the barrel tube open to extract the muzzle. I did not attempt to remove the ring from the back end.

Here are the same test parts cast in the proper resin. I am very encouraged so far with the way these parts turned out. Very excited to proceed with the rest of the project. I made one-piece molds for the front sight block and magazine release button this weekend. I am also making my first attempt at a two-piece mold for the end cap.

The end cap turned out really well for my first attempt at a two-piece mold. It's functional. See it pictured here assembled to the receiver tube.

I had a few bubbles, but I seem to be getting better at not making them or getting them to the top. The cap on the far left was the last one I cast. Here, I used Milliput to fill the voids. Good as new!

Does anyone know how the selector switch is disassembled from the trigger group?

Hi Bryan,  I replied to your PM with step by step instructions, but for the benefit of everyone else...

Here's a photo of the selector switch disassembled:

Good times!  I just built a vacuum chamber for degassing silicone.  The build took about 2 days, $200 total and all parts were obtained locally.

I posted photos of an extensive Sterling disassembly in the E-11 Blaster Reference Gallery.

At last count, I think I had over 100 pictures in there.

The parts you see in the gallery were sold to Phoenix Props for molding.

Those molds produced the current V2 blaster kit.

Wish I would have seen this thread sooner!

Magazine housing. I had some trapped air in the top of the mould. I'll have to figure out how to relieve that. Otherwise, it turned out pretty well.

I left about 3/4"-1" solid material in the bottom of the well.
