Maintaining Painted Boots

For my first armor build I was attempting to go with true screen accurate standards and died black boots white.  After a few troops the boots are starting to wear a little, which still looks screen accurate.  However I feel that over time they may get too much of a worn look.  Any pointers on maintaining the boots to preserve there life ?

I just use touch up spray, e.g. the same dye that I got from to dye them white. Maybe once a year or so? Depends how often you troop (in your TK).
