HIPS or ABS which is easiest to work with

Recommended Posts

I find HIPS a little easier to work with, especially heatbending is much easier, but ABS is sturdier and if acrylic capped, is shiny right from the start. I prefer ABS in the end.

I have learned a lot about both types. Ā HIPS is by far easier. Ā But to be honest, you don't need to paint it white. Ā A clear Laquer coat over it prior to painting details makes it just as shiny as ABS without a doubt. Ā It flexes better that ABS and if something goes awry, you can sand it and re-spray it.
