Doo Wop Stormtrooper Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Looking for something that would be an approval for the back of the thighs as a shim, I live in sort of a small town. I don't really want to go and get some off the internet and pay for shipping and such, would rather go out and buy it, what would you guys recommend that would be 501st approved? Quote
captsafe66[Admin] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 In a pinch, I found a white wastebasket that was close to the ABS in color. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 the other way to do is is to use for sale signs and get the paint matched at a body shop. Quote
SCTrooper[TK] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 How wide of a cover strip do you need? Trooperbay sells 2" wide strips and the shipping is very little. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Color matching will be the problem, I have also used plastic signs on others armor before, you can get a good match too Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 I a role of HIPS at home-depot. It was arround 30$ for an 4' x 8' Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Quote
Doo Wop Stormtrooper Posted February 2, 2014 Author Report Posted February 2, 2014 I know I don't need too much, maybe two inches at the top at the most. I went to the home depot in my town and they didn't know what HIPS even was, I found something close but it was more like paneling and had a weird texture.. I'm also wondering about the bottom of the thighs in the back because they do overlap and it's hard for me to walk even with trimming, do any of you have pictures that would help me figure out the best way for me to do this? It'd be really appreciated. Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Color matching will be the problem, I have also used plastic signs on others armor before, you can get a good match too Yeah, that is always a problem. I have a mix of AP parts with my FX kit and you can see the difference, sadly. Edited February 2, 2014 by Tolo Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Check hobby shops and model railroad shops. Just ask for sheet styrene. No one will know what HIPS means. Quote
