DudeSidious
What type of paint do I paint my latex hand gaurds with? I guess it has to have a fair bit of flex to it.
TK bondservnt[501st]
mix some acrylic white craft paint into some latex and brush it on then seal with angelus clear leather sealer for the shine if you want them to shine? gmrhodes13[Staff]
Karin uses a mix of white acrylic paint (water based) and white glue (wood glue or similar) but you need lots of thin coats and it is time consuming, Karin's tutorial is here . I managed to find some screen printing paint, worked really well and I only needed three coats. I tried a small section and it worked fine so ended up applying 3 light coats as it covers quite well. It says on the directions that you can lock in the paint by heating to 130 deg in an oven, I was a bit worried I would find a puddle of latex in my oven but I gave it a go. They worked out great, can bend, fold, squeeze the hand guards and there is no sign of the paint cracking or peeling. DudeSidious
Glen that link seems to be broken. I think latex is heat proof anyway isn't it? cause you can buy cake tins and other cooking gear.
TK bondservnt[501st]
different kinds of latex have different melting points. I would not want to use glue and paint. I've made my own latex hand guards by simply pouring brush on latex in thin coats inside the plastic handplates that come with my armor. first I mix in the color, and they pop out white, or black... or whatever color I want.
