Making a helmet bigger....

Recommended Posts

Well after nearly a year of inaction, I'm trying to get my a very impolite person in gear to sort out my armour.

unfortunaley it is from Jdei Robe (yes, I know now, but it's far too latge to get a refund)

The big problem I have is the size of my head in relation to my helmet.

With no padding whatsoever, my helmet sits very high on my head, as well as pressing on my brow. This of courser makes it quite unstable and uncomfortable. There's no room for fans etc

So my questions are,

Is there any way of making the helmet bigger?

Can I make one from "scratch" and make it slightly bigger?

Am I screwed?

Cheers

Your faceplate looks a little pushed out at the bottom which would give you less space around your brow. The cap/back size really dictates the size of the helmet though.

I would hook up with some UKG guys in your area who could help you take the helmet apart and see if it's fixable or you could contact the recommended makers on here with your head size.

It's hard to tell without better pictures and being there in person though.

I had the same problem, plus the 'angry' look was annoying me. So I disassembled the helmet and repositioned the faceplate and it fit better and looked good too.

But the helmet still looked awkward when compared to others. So I used an X-acto knife to cut the eyes in more and reduce the gap inbetween them. Then I used

testors gray paint to finish the odd looking unfinished frown, then replaced the gray lenses with green ones and added mesh under the frown, and put balck pinstripe tape around the ears. And now it actually

looks like the other helmets! Now I know you didn't ask for that but its just for thought and it was quite simple stuff. Hope this helps.
