Marv
Stumbled on this when I was looking on eBay earlier: eBay Link Has anyone ever brought one of these and does it truly fit the MRCE? If anyone has any pictures that would be great. Edited January 17, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed
matt black
I used one of these to fit inside an SDS battlespec. I can't say how well it will fit the MR but it was certainly a bit too big for the SDS but with some carefull fitting turned out nice. They are, in my opinion, a nice, well made piece and give a good finish. Probably would make it very hot for trooping though.
Marv
Does it help with the fit? At the moment I've got a ratchet style head brace which will fit inside the lid, and which obviously does stop the wobble a wee bit.
matt black
Well, yeah it does help with the fit. I only have the SDS as a display piece but the padding does make it fit nice and snug but it is a smaller helmet than the MR. Do a search on here and have a look to see how others have padded their helmets. There are quite a few different cool ways.
TK bondservnt[501st]
simple star foam with a chin strap elastic. no helmet liner for ANH/ESB. now if you're making it into an ROTJ lid then you need a helmet liner. there is no way that liner would make a helmet more comfortable. hot and heavier is the only result. it's not like you're gonna get hit in the head with a blaster bolt? TK Kenny[TK]
Hey champ, I stuffed one of those into an eFX bucket that I picked up cheap. I know a few in my troop that have bucket envy as a result. Comfy as all hell and still fits a few fans in there to compensate for the lining heating up from your head. The material is synthetic and doesn't really get that hot. Padding makes it feel snug. It took a little messing around with before it fit in. In the end I had to cut it and develop a velcro system to hold it in snug. Shoot as many questions as you want on the install. Marv
Did you have to remove all the trimming to get it to hold? It looks quite similar to the lining I have inside my MR LE lid, though I'd never mess with that. I had up to now thought about using a strap from one of these things: Strimmer Visor They come off real easy and have a ratchet on the strap. The one I have fits okay inside, but would need gluing. Thing is I don't troop, or at least not yet as I don't possess armor I had been thinking this would add to the MRCE as a display piece perhaps? That said, Ken anything you could say about the fitting process of these would certainly help me make my mind up about the time and hassle of doing this mod.
