darthyagi Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Hey, all. I have a question for the hive-mind. A few of the colored buttons on my ab plate are having issues. The gray ones are fine. They're oil-based paints, so they're on pretty solid. The problems are that the blue ones are acrylic, and when they rub against pretty much anything, the paint comes off. So I was wondering what I could use as a sealant to keep the paint from coming off. My wife has some Mod Podge, which is advertised as a sealant. Should I try to use that, or is there something better? Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 maybe use an oil based blue? when I was an ANH TK I used humbrol french blue enamel (number 14?) for my blue buttons. Quote
dashrazor Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) modge podge will work fine, i use the spray on type without issue (coated most my armor with it). but for a small area the brush on should work fine ---- Edited December 4, 2020 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2020 Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) decals also work great for buttons. I personally would use the same brand of clear coat paint that you used to paint armor. then apply a non yellowing polymer UV protectant. like turtle wax 2001 super protectant. it's a nano polymer shine product, and sealer. mod podge has the potential to yellow? doesn't it?
