Hey guys,

I planning to build a scratch built E-11 all aluminum build. Plans are to have it match up to a true replica as best I can. I plan on having a fully funtional stock, electronics with LEDs and will add one or two small speakers for sound effects. I'm sure this will be a six month or more project with many adjustments.

I need advice on where to find some parts like the counter and scope. I would like to put Led lights in counter and make an illuminated scope. Any help here would have my thanks and credit in this build.

Additonally, I have looked at Hyperdyne or blaster core for the electronics...Any thoughts? I like the blaster core set up but know it will take me hours to craft this properly. I am currently in research phase of this project and have a significant budget to work with to do this. My wife told me to go play and leave her alone...MY MASTER PLAN WORKED!

I'm setting up my work space and buying needed tools to begin this project in the next two months and after I finish my TM Sandtrooper build I will begin this project. I think after I get this prototype finished I may build some more for fun. I will follow some of the blaster tutorials I've seen to guide me and will add to this knowledge as I go.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and tips to aid in this proect.

I know people have been looking for the Hyperdyne card for a while. They don't stock it very often. Just keep your eyes peeled and you might find one. Keep in mind that it was designed for use in a Hasbro, not a "real" E-11, so the spacing of the LEDs and barrel holes are off (believe me, I checked).

The Plecterlabs one is cool but it's also not often in stock. It requires you to solder everything and does not include LED's speaker, etc.

Last option would be to make your own. There's lots of simple sound cards on ebay you could use to transfer an MP3 sound file to. Then install and wire your own LED's based on the trigger switch. This wouldn't have an LED array, but you could at least have a single Luxeon 3 at the base of the barrel, which is plenty bright.

There's lots of build threads on FISD and elsewhere of great scratch built E-11s. The Blaster Builders forum is also a great resource, since many of the parts are done the same way - cut from flat sheet metal or aluminum. I know Vern TKBondservant had some plans he was selling that were more accurate in time of dimensions for the blaster, check with him if you want plans.

The Hengstler and scope, you can try the buy and sell forum here or Ebay. Andy from the UK just unloaded a ton of counters and scopes, but you missed that sale by a few days. I saw these counters went up for sale this am

Good luck in your build, and post pics!

one great idea is to use all original parts, and supply a tube.

I was thinking of doing this but I want to be able to make them with out hab=ving to rely on parts...key here is the first one to get size right. I would still be at the mercy on the electronic supply though.

Thanks Terry and I will be posted pics and build thread on this all the way through...so we can all see the good and the bad. I plan on showing what wirked and what didn't too. Thanks guys for the assist so far.

Hey, Darren!

I am very much looking forward to this build, and I'd love to see it first hand (even if not in it's entirety). I know John had planned on an Armor Party earlier this year and perhaps we'll still get one going with him soon enough (he needs to finish that RC of his before July!!), and you could show us the progress there. Pardon the pun, but I'm more than a little gun-shy in taking on such a feat as a full E-11 build. For one, I don't currently have the income to tackle it, and two, I'd need a lot of aluminum. A Lot. There'd be mutilated E-11's everywhere before I'd be done.

As a favor, a buddy of mine is currently working on a simple Hasbro mod for me with an Arduino board and an LED array with sound output to my Aker Amp. I don't doubt it will be great when I hand it over to the kids who always want to shoot me in their photos, but ultimately, I would love something like Erv's recently posted build.

Was just chatting with John earlier (perhaps you'll find a sterling tomorrow? don't know if they're legal here in TX...), and I do look forward to trooping with you, brother!

APEX sells original parts and is the best domestic supplier of parts for a build.

John and I talked about this on Thursday and I should see him today. I live about 20 mins from him. We were heading to the gun show to see if we can find a sterling or parts. I'll post pics if we find anything.
