Rich330[TK]
I have observed something interesting on my latex handguards (Karin's version 2). I have painted them with what I presume is acrylic based fabric paint. In the spots where the paint is chipping away, the latex underneath has turned black. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know why this is happening? Some kind of chemical reaction? Interesting phenomenon! ----------- "It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black." Sonnenschein
hmmm... strange. I noticed the turn browner when the paint is on (as they should), but black? Is it water based paint? Anyway, I'll cast you a new set to replace them.
SW1
Rich its not the latex being clear and what you are seeing is the blackness of the glove underniteh reflecting through just a thought mate . if it is not then very strange. Sonnenschein
Okay, I just used several kinds of acrylics on a spare piece to reproduce the blackening.
Locitus[Admin]
I think it looks good. The chipped paint on all screen caps I've seen looks more black than brown to me. So this in my eyes looks more SA than any brownish spots where the paint would have chipped.
Rich330[TK]
Karin no! This is in no way a complaint. No need for a new set. As Mathias says, the weathering on the screen caps looks dark too. Just an observation. I think it's cool. I do want to find some better paint to repaint them with because this stuff doesn't adhere well enough. Thinking of latex-based paint from the DIY place. Definitely not just the black glove showing. No breakdown of the ingredients on the bottle of paint but I presume it's acrylic-based. I'm using this: --------- Edited January 16, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed
Sonnenschein
I didn't see it a complaint; just wanted to help out in case the guards were ruined in your eyes Your right, the colors range from light brown to very dark brown. The darker, the more cured the latex is.. Try to find some latex fabirc paint. Karin
R2Dan[TK]
I just painted my alternative style handguards (yep they arrived today, thanks Karin!) with Plastidip, great stuff

Rich330[TK]
I have since stripped the handguards, put them on a new set of gloves and re-painted them with more suitable paint. It turns out it was indeed the black of the gloves and the latex wasn't discoloured at all. Turns out I am a total numpty after all! Looking good now though eh? --------- Edited January 16, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed
