J.. Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Hi, I learned a few things here, But I just want to confirm, Is it true that; While the FX helmet is considered to be deprecated (to be avoided) it is acceptable for Legion acceptance. But an un"modded" EFX/MRCE helmet is NOT accepted for 501st. Cos I thought EFX/MRCE un"mod" looks better than the FX helmet? Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Hello Jerry! Both are accepted for 501st membership. And yes, out of the box I think the efx/mrce looks better. Both however require mods if you really want it to shine. I'm not even sure the FX-helmet can ever look truly great. The FX is not accepted for EIB applications, while the efx/mrce is, with the mods. If you're looking for a really good and cheap helmet, I would look for CAP-W or ATA instead, as these are screen accurate. You would however need to put it together yourself. But that applies to the FX-helmet as well. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Alas, there are no firm requirements for any costume in the Legion and it's always LMO or GML call, but the 501st guidelines have actually be standardized now, so both require some mods out of the box to match the Legion CRL. Out of the box: 1) The FX needs correct color tube stripes, and people should cut out a fourth tooth per side to match CRL 2) The MRCE needs new tube stripes, darker lenses, and the seam to be filled in In a way they are no different really than any other kit, what's really changed is that we used to accept the FX "out of the box" and now we make it adhere to the same standards as any other helmet. RogueTrooper[TK] Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Here is a great tutorial by Noel/No'l on MRCE now eFx: ----------- If I may suggest, before doing buying and modding an eFx lid maybe look at getting a lid from one of the vendors here (some lid kits start at $125.00 and some of the "B" stock lid kits are well under $100.00) or when you order your armor, most of the kits come with a lid anyway. I think you will have more fun and end up with a lid that you will be happier with. Here are some links for just the helmets kits that are on sale right now. But, like I said if you are going to buy an armor kit, most of them come with the lid: ----------- Edited January 26, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
