matt black Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I am in the process of putting my armour together and was a bit worried about using the standard metal rivets. I know alot of you out there use them but I just know that if I tried that I would crack the plastic. I came across these and wondered what you all think or have any of you used them before. Would it be a problem in the future when I go for membership to the 501st? They are very strong nylon type plasic and the ring pushes very tight, although if I use them I would probably use the smallest amount of glue for a solid fit. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I can also suggest chicago screws. also called screw posts. you can get them in the specialty fasteners section at lowes. the tops of the post look like rivets. actually to be screen accurate there are some interesting designs for the type of rivet used. DarkTrooper[TK] Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 You won't have a problem with getting into the 501st. The 501st's standards are less than that of the FISD's EIB programs standards. 501st doesn't require rivets for a TK suit. The regular rivets you find at the hardware store will not crack armor. ABS and HIPS made armor will accept rivets. Quote
Sonnenschein Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 ABS and HIPS made armor will accept rivets. Don't forget to use washers Quote
