TK 5156[TK] Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 What is the best way to round off the knee plate and belt. I want these parts to be perfect and I know someone out there has a trick. I am thinking of taking a glass or something and tracing around it. What have you used that is pretty accurate? Quote
troopermaster Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 What do you mean about rounding off the belt? The ends of the belts are cut diagonally, not rounded off. For rounding off the bottome edges of the knee ammo strap, I use the base of an aerosol can as a template. Quote
ObiHahn[TK] Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 I think he means bending them in a curved way to follow the round edges of the lower thigh piece and the abdomen. Heating them and slightly forcing them around the curve of the piece they attach to does the trick. My belt is flexible enough that I didn't have to heat anything. It just follows the belly curve and stays flat when I take it off. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) Did you look at the TIP/HOWTO area? I found this on the first page: HOWTO: Get a good heat bend on your belt ----- Edited December 5, 2020 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2020 Quote
TK 5156[TK] Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 I was actually talking about what you need to cut off. I am working on the knee currently and knew that it was rounded. I havent gotten to the belt yet but I am glad you told me it wasn't rounded before I got to it. Thanks TKbondservnt 2392, that is some great info. And thanks to the rest of you also because I also needed the other info. Quote
ObiHahn[TK] Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 My bad, I misunderstood. Sorry for the detour... Quote
TK 5156[TK] Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 My bad, I misunderstood. Sorry for the detour... No problem, I wasn't very clear on what I was asking. Is any glue applied anywhere to have the ammo knee plate applied or just the 2 rivets? Quote

Is any glue applied anywhere to have the ammo knee plate applied or just the 2 rivets? Depends on how strong you want the connection, I guess. I used 2 rivets per knee detail piece and backed both pieces with a dab of hot glue to keep them both from moving up and down. Works great! Quote
